Cowgirl Basketball Falls in First Round of ASU Holiday Classic

Despite a strong second-half rally, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team lost to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 84-77, in the first round of the ASU Holiday Classic before 1,503 fans at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Cowgirls (0-4) erased an 11-point deficit in the second half, gaining a four-point lead behind a strong performance from junior center Trisha Skibbe with 12 minutes remaining in the contest. The Oxford, Kan., native hit nine of her 14 shots on the night, finishing with a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds.
However, UWM (1-2) used a 39-29 rebounding advantage to preserve its first win of the season. Junior Maria Viall led the way for the Panthers, finishing with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor.
OSU will compete in the consolation game against Portland State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
