Cowgirl Basketball Defeats Central Michigan, 66-57
April 15, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls (3-6) got a career-high 13 points from freshman Meghan Craig, who hit a team-best 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc.
Both teams remained scoreless until the 16:25 mark of the first half and the Chippewas (5-4) took a three-point lead before back-to-back treys by Craig put OSU out in front. Two minutes later, the Oklahoma City native hit a jumper to extend the advantage to five.
The Cowgirls pushed the lead to 10 on a bucket by freshman Cara Painter and held a 31-26 margin at the half.
CMU, forced three of OSU's 27 turnovers in the game early in the second half to jump ahead in a second half that saw four ties and three lead changes before OSU took the lead for good with 11:34 remaining.
Despite leading scorer Desiree Eidson picking up her fifth foul with nearly seven minutes remaining, the Chippewas cut the deficit to two, but were outscored 8-1 down the stretch to close out the game.
OSU will return to action on Dec. 29 when it travels to East Lansing, Mich., to take on Michigan State.
