"Boise State has a very tough lineup," said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. "It was a good win because Boise State is a tough team. I think we were a little bit lucky because we played outdoors and they are an indoor team."
The Cowgirls (11-6, 5-3) picked up the match's doubles point for the fifth consecutive time. OSU ended Boise State's (16-4, 3-0) six match winning streak.
At the No. 1 position, the No. 23 ranked duo of senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska defeated Jemima Hayward and Erin Polowski, 8-4, to take the early 1-0 lead.
At the No. 2 position, senior Erin Pauchnik and sophomore Ewa Radzikowska clinched the doubles point by defeating Renate Stoop and Alyssa Ayling, 8-6. The combo improved to 5-0 on the year.
The Cowgirls completed the doubles sweep when sophomore Ines Furtmayr and freshman Zana Masnic came from behind to defeat Ana Curtolo and Carolina Pongratz at the No. 3 position, 8-7, (7-5).
OSU would finish the match in dominant fashion by winning their top five singles positions.
At the No. 1 slot, Faltynkova upset No. 83 Stoop in a rematch of the quarterfinals of the 2002 Omni Hotels Central Region Semifinal match, 6-3, 6-1. Faltynkova has won both meetings between the two.
Senior Kate Vasylyeva held on to defeat Hayward at the No. 2 position, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6. Kolodynska followed suit by dominating Erin Polowski, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 3 position. Both Cowgirls picked up their tenth wins on the season.
Radzikowska continued her dominant streak with a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Ayling at the No. 4 position. Radzikowska is riding a five match winning streak.
Masnic received a confidence boost when she handily defeated Curtolo at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-2. "I am very glad Zana won," said Lubicz-Majewski. "She is better than she looks. She has good hands."
The lone Bronco point came at the No. 6 position where Pongratz defeated Cowgirl senior, Gorana Marsic, 6-2, 6-0. Marsic came in to replace Furtmayr who sat out of singles play with an injury.
With the victory, Oklahoma State improves to 3-0 all time against Boise State.
The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Lady Raiders of Texas Tech (2-11, 2-7).
"Texas Tech is a tough team," said Lubicz-Majewski. "We are not going to relax against them. We will take them seriously, do the same things we did today, and play extremely hard."
OSU is 7-1 all time against it's Big 12 South opponent. The last time the Cowgirls lost to the TTU was a 7-2 decision in 1998.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the DuBois Tennis Center.
