Two Cowgirls Named to Academic All-Big 12 Squad

DALLAS, Texas - Oklahoma State's Shelby Hutchens and Leah Wahlgren were named to the 2003 Women's Basketball Academic All-Big 12 Team it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Hutchens was one of just two honorees nominated with a 4.0 grade point average. The senior from Stillwater, Okla., who was named a Verizon Academic All-District selection last month, was named to the first team for the third consecutive season.
The chemical engineering major has played in all 26 of OSU's games this season, starting 25 times, and is averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest.
Wahlgren, a native of Salina, Kan., was also tabbed a first-team selection. For the health promotions senior, the selection was the first of her career.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the women's basketball academic all-league consists of 46 first-team members combined with seven student-athletes on the second team. First-team members are those student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
