Men's Netters Fall to Texas

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to the 17th ranked Texas Longhorns, 5-2, on Saturday at the DeBois Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
OSU (7-3 overall, 1-2 Big 12) fell behind 1-0 after dropping two of three doubles matches to Texas. The lone Cowboys doubles victory came at the No. 3 doubles spot where sophomore Mark Van Elden and senior Jiri Jezek defeated Alastair Jenkin and Ryan Haymond 8-5.
The Longhorns clinched the match by winning three of the first four singles matches. Jezek recorded a win at the No. 5 singles spot by defeating Roger Gubser, 6-2, 6-1.
The final two matches came down to tiebreakers after each player had each won one set. Van Elden was outlasted at the No. 1 singles position by Jean Simon, 3-6, 7-5 (10-4). Junior Yevgen Bondarchuk bounced back from a slow start to defeat Jose Zarhi at the No. 2 singles spot, 0-6, 6-4 (10-6).
The Cowboys will return to action on Sunday when they host 10th ranked Texas A&M at 1p.m.
