Oklahoma State earned the No. 4 seed and a bye during the first round of the Big 12 Conference tournament next week, and will play the winner of the Missouri vs. Nebraska game on Friday at 2:20 p.m. OSU is 21-8 overall and 10-6 in Big 12 Conference action after a 77-52 win over Texas A&M Saturday afternoon.

Oklahoma State is ranked 23rd in the Associated Press poll and 20th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll. The Cowboys are ranked 18th in the Ratings Percentage Index according to Collegiate Basketball News.
Last Time Out For OSU
It might have been Senior Day, but junior Ivan McFarlin was the player of the game as he scored 17 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Cowboys defeated Texas A&M, 77-52. McFarlin also had three assists, three blocks and two steals. Melvin Sanders also scored 17 points, had six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Tony Allen added 12 points off the bench for OSU, starting the game on the sideline so senior Cheyne Gadson could get the starting nod. Andre Williams scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked six shots, breaking the OSU single-season blocks record. Victor Williams also had 10. OSU shot 51.8 percent from the floor, while limiting A&M to just 31 percent.
All-Big 12 Teams Announced
The Associated Press announced its All-Big 12 teams Monday afternoon, and three Cowboys were listed among them. Victor Williams earned second-team honors, while Melvin Sanders was recognized on the third team. Tony Allen earned honorable mention accolades. The first team consisted of Kansas' Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich, Hollis Price of Oklahoma, Texas' T.J. Ford and Andre Emmett of Texas Tech. The second team also included Colorado's Michel Morandais, James Thomas of Texas, Texas A&M's Bernard King and Arthur Johnson of Missouri. Third team members were Stephane Pelle of Colorado, Baylor's Lawrence Roberts, Rickey Paulding of Missouri and Iowa State's Jake Sullivan.
Sutton a Finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame
Coach Eddie Sutton, a four-time national Coach of the Year, has been listed as a finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, it was announced Monday morning. The 33-year coaching veteran has an all-time record of 723-286 in stops at Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State. He was the first coach to ever lead four different schools to the NCAA Tournament, and has won 20 or more games in 23 of his 33 seasons. The honorees will be announced prior to the Final Four in New Orleans on April 7.
Cowboys Named to All-Big 12 Specialty Teams
Three Cowboys were named this past Monday to the Big 12 All-Specialty teams, in a vote of sportswriters that regularly cover the league. Tony Allen, a junior-college transfer from Wabash Valley Community College, was named to the All-Newcomer. He is second on the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game, and is also averaging 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest. Senior Cheyne Gadson was named to the All-Reserve team after serving as the squad's sixth man off the bench. Senior Melvin Sanders was named to the All-Defense team. The 6-5 guard/forward combo, considered one of the top defensive stoppers in the country, is typically assigned to the opposing teams' most active scorer.
Miller, Steyn Excell in Classroom
A pair of Cowboy basketball student-athletes have been honored by the Big 12 Conference for their efforts in the classroom. Frans Steyn a sophomore from Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, has been named first-team Academic All-Big 12 while majoring in business at Oklahoma State. Jason Miller, a junior from Livingston, Texas, made the second-team Academic All-Big 12 while majoring in education at OSU.
Williams, Allen Honored
The National Association of Basketball Coaches named its Division I All-District teams last month, and two Cowboys made the list. Senior guard Victor Williams and junior guard Tony Allen were both named to the second team of the NABC All-District 12 squad. The first team included Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich, both of Kansas, Oklahoma's Hollis Price, Arthur Johnson of Missouri and Creighton's Kyle Korver. Others on the second team were Missouri's Rickey Paulding, Jake Sullivan of Iowa State and UMKC's Michael Watson. The individuals are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, and the 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the NABC Division I All-America team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2002-03 basketball season.

Following the conclusion of the Big 12 Tournament, the National Collegiate Athletic Association will announce its field of 65 teams that will compete in March Madness. The selection show will be broadcast live on CBS at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16.
