Shelby Hutchens Named to Academic All-District Team

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Oklahoma State's Shelby Hutchens has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VI University Division Women's Basketball first team for 2003.
Hutchens, a Stillwater, Okla., native, is currently carrying a 3.922 grade point average in chemical engineering. The senior forward has played in all 23 of OSU's games, starting 22 of those, and is averaging 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
The five student-athletes were picked by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from District VI.
District VI represents all NCAA Division I schools in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The five student-athletes on the first team will advance to the national ballot and have a chance to earn Verizon Academic All-America honors. That team will be announced Thursday, March 7.
