STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team snapped an eight-game losing streak on Wednesday night, defeating Baylor, 64-55, in front of 1,888 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls (6-17 overall, 2-10 Big 12) overcame a 33-25 halftime deficit, outscoring the Lady Bears (16-8, 5-7) 39-22 in the second half to pick up their first win since a Jan. 15 triumph over Kansas.
Baylor held OSU to four points through the first nine minutes of the contest on its way to building a 14-point lead and held a double-figure lead for most of the stanza before a 5-0 run by the Cowgirls over the final minute cut the lead to single digits.
The Lady Bears owned a 47-40 lead with 11:33 to play before OSU jumped out in front with a 10-1 run to claim its first lead since a 2-0 margin to open the game. The Cowgirls would never relinquish the lead, taking advantage of 28 Baylor turnovers and the Lady Bears' poor free-throw shooting (9-of-18).
OSU got its final eight points from junior Trisha Skibbe, who finished with a game-high 25 points to go along with 12 rebounds and a career-high seven steals.
Sophia Young led the way for Baylor, finishing with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
OSU will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Texas Tech at 7 p.m.
