Trisha Skibbe Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Skibbe, a 6-2 senior center, helped the Cowgirls to a 3-0 record last week, including an upset over No. 24 Michigan State and a win over Fresno State in the championship game at the Cowgirl Classic. She posted double-doubles in wins over Sam Houston State and Fresno State while averaging 24.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
The Oxford, Kan., native earned MVP honors at the Cowgirl Classic after scoring a career-high 33 points against Sam Houston State. She hit 68.2 percent (30-44) of her field goals last week and 70 percent (14-20) of her free throw attempts. She is currently leading the Big 12 in scoring, along with Colorado's Tera Bjorklund, with 22.0 ppg and is fourth in rebounding with 8.7 rpg.
Players are nominated by each school's sports information office and voted on by a panel of media who cover Big 12 women's basketball.
