Cowgirl Basketball Rolls Past Sam Houston State, 76-52

The Cowgirls (3-3) got a career-high 33 points from Trisha Skibbe, who also added a team-best 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. The Oxford, Kan., native converted 14 of her 19 shots from the field on her way to a fourth consecutive contest with at least 20 points.
Sophomore Lori Allen chipped in with a season-high 14 points, while freshman Christian Hood came off the bench to record six blocked shots, tying the single-game school record set by Sheila Hughes in 1987.
OSU opened the game on a 16-2 run, but Roshunda Betts capped a 16-3 run by the Bearkats (0-4) with a layup to give the visitors the lead at 26-25 before the Cowgirls headed to the halftime lockerroom with a 32-28 lead.
OSU benefitted from a 56 percent shooting effort from the floor in the second half, including 22 from Skibbe, to see their lead swell to 24 and give the Cowgirls their first-ever back-to-back wins under head coach Julie Goodenough.
OSU will return to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the championship game against Fresno State, while Sam Houston State will take on Western Illinois at 2 p.m. in the consolation game.
