Cowgirl Basketball Set To Take On Santa Clara
December 18, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (4-3) will look to extend its winning streak to four games on Thursday when it travels to California to take on Santa Clara at 9 p.m. (CST). The Cowgirls last played on Dec. 6, defeating Fresno State, 67-60, to win the Cowgirl Classic, while the Broncos are coming off a 68-56 home loss against Oregon on Tuesday night.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara has lost two in a row to slip to 3-5 overall after falling, 71-61, at Fresno State last Saturday and to Oregon, 68-56, on Tuesday. The Broncos have posted a 3-1 record on the road thus far and are still in search of their first home win of the season after an 0-4 start at the Leavey Center. Thursday's contest will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
UP NEXT
The Cowgirls will return home for a New Year's Eve clash at 2 p.m. against Texas-Arlington before a Jan. 2 tilt against South Alabama in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
WHAT 2 WATCH 4
A Cowgirl win would be No. 201 for head coach Julie Goodenough ... a win would give OSU its first four-game winning streak since the 2000-01 season ... a win would also be the first non-conference road win (0-4) under Goodenough and the second road win (1-11) overall ... senior Trisha Skibbe is 22 points shy of becoming the seventh player in school history to reach the 1,400-point plateau ... Skibbe is also four points shy of moving past Stacy Coffey into seventh place on the all-time scoring list.
LAST TIME OUT
OSU successfully closed out a three-game homestand with a 67-60 victory over Fresno State on Dec. 6 in the championship game of the Cowgirl Classic. Trisha Skibbe posted her third double-double of the season, pouring in 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while Nina Stone added 15 points, seven boards and seven assists.
