Cowgirls Roll Past Yale, 74-51, At Seattle Times Classic

The Cowgirls (1-2) were held in check early, scoring only two points through the first five minutes of the contest. However, OSU got solid post play from senior Trisha Skibbe and junior Eliz Gomes, who combined for 21 points in the stanza, to race out to a 16-point lead at the half with a 24-9 run over the final eight minutes.
The Cowgirls built the lead to as many as 26 in the second half before a 10-0 run by Yale (0-3) to cut the advantage to 56-40. OSU's Nina Stone stopped the bleeding with one of her three three-point baskets on the night as the Cowgirls quickly pushed the lead over 20 points once again.
The Bulldogs could not overcome 23 turnovers in the game, which led to 27 OSU points. OSU also outrebounded Yale by a 40-29 count.
Skibbe led all scorers with 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting and pulled a team-high eight rebounds. Gomes chipped in with 14 points, while Stone added 11 points and a team-high five assists.
