Cowgirl Golfers to Compete in Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship
November 05, 2003 | Cowgirl Golf
Oklahoma State's ninth-ranked Cowgirl Golf team travels to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., this weekend to compete in the inaugural Hooters Match Play Championship at Barefoot Resort. The Cowgirls will face conference-rival Texas in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.
Oklahoma State earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament as a result of the Cowgirls' finish at last year's NCAA Tournament. OSU's second-round opponent will be either No. 4 seed UCLA or No. 13 seed North Carolina.
The 16-team tournament consists of four rounds played over three days. It begins on Sunday, Nov. 2, and ends on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Oklahoma State's top-10 team consists of juniors Annie Thurman and Jenny Karr, sophomore Karin Sjödin, as well as freshmen Ashley Knoll and Mallory Underwood.
