Cowgirl Basketball Set to Take On Tulsa

SCOUTING TULSA OSU will be looking to avenge last season's 75-55 loss to the Golden Hurricane at the Bertha Teague Classic in Tulsa. With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to the Golden Hurricane for the first time since 1999 and just the third time in the squads' 19 all-time meetings. TU won both of its exhibition contests this season, opening with an 84-59 win against Cameron on Nov. 13 and an 86-82 win over Everyone's Internet on Tuesday. Against CU, five players scored in double figures, while Jilian Robbins poured in 33 points in the win over Everyone's Internet.
WHAT 2 WATCH 4 The Cowgirls are 22-8 all-time in season openers ... OSU owns a 2-4 record all-time in Oklahoma City and Saturday's game will mark the Cowgirls' first in the state capitol since a 59-66 loss to Washington on Dec. 3, 2000. ... a win Saturday would be OSU head coach Julie Goodenough's first over an in-state opponent (0-5) ... Trisha Skibbe enters the game 20 points from taking sole possession of eighth place on the all-time scoring list and 15 rebounds from taking over the No. 7 slot on the rebounding chart ... the Cowgirl senior is also two blocked shots away from the third spot on the all-time chart and just seven away from taking over the No. 2 position.
LAST TIME OUT The Cowgirls closed out their exhibition season with a 78-67 loss to Northwest Sports last week inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls fell behind by as many as 20 in the second half before mounting a late surge to pull within four with 1:26 remaining on a basket by Nina Stone. However, Northwest converted four consecutive free throws to pull away and snap their three-game losing streak. Trisha Skibbe recorded her second consecutive double-double, finishing the contest with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Nina Stone chipped in with 11 points, while freshman Destanie Sykes grabbed 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT The Cowgirls will travel to Wichita, Kan. next Tuesday to take on Wichita State at 7 p.m. OSU will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak in the series after suffering a 76-66 setback to the Shockers last season in Stillwater. The Cowgirls hold a slim 8-7 advantage in the all-time series, but have lost three of the last four against WSU.
