November 10, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls (1-0) got a 22-point, 14-rebound effort from senior Trisha Skibbe to lead all scorers. The Oxford, Kan., poured in 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor while helping OSU race out to a 48-25 halftime lead.
In the first 20 minutes, the Cowgirls shot 51 percent from the floor and held the Flyers (0-3) to a 28 percent clip. However, OSU cooled off in the second half , converting just 26 percent of their shots.
After the Cowgirl lead grew to a game-high 26 points three minutes into the second half, the Flyers began to chip away with Jamie Talbert scoring eight of her team-high 14 points in the half. Rosiland Ross' bucket at the 2:51 mark trimmed the deficit to 63-51, but they could get no closer.
Freshman Christian Hood was impressive in her OSU debut, scoring 12 points to go along with nine rebounds, while sophomore Lori Allen hit all three of her shots from the floor on her way to a nine-point, four-assist night.
The Cowgirls will close out the exhibition season on Nov. 13 when Northwest Sports Tours comes to Stillwater for a 7 p.m. tip.
