Baker was a student assistant coach for two years at Southeastern from 1999-2001. He returned to Valliant High School, his alma mater, in the spring of 2001 to do his student teaching, and served as an assistant coach to Burl Plunkett and Gene Davis, both former collegiate coaches and members of the Oklahoma High School Hall of Fame.
Baker graduated from Southeastern in May of 2001 with a degree in health, physical education and leisure. He received his master's in education leadership studies in May of 2003. Born August 4, 1978, he is the son of Wyatt Baker and Pam Strawn. Wren is engaged to be married to Heather Wetzel. He has a brother, Wray. Baker enjoys fishing, spending time with family and friends, and watching sports in his spare time.
