COWGIRL BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO MISSOURI FOR BIG 12 SHOWDOWN
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-11, 1-4) will look to get back on the winning track when it travels to Columbia, Mo., to take on the Missouri Tigers (8-7, 2-2) at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Cowgirls come to town on a two-game losing streak, while Mizzou has won its last two after defeating Nebraska, 65-53, on Wednesday. OSU junior Trisha Skibbe enters the contest 19 points shy of becoming the 15th 1,000-point scorer in school history.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Missouri is led by honorable mention All-Big 12 guard Kerensa Barr, who is currently averaging 12.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while dishing out a team-best 80 assists. Junior forward Evan Unrau leads the squad offensively, scoring 15.3 points per outing and a team-best 8.6 boards per game. The Tigers lead the overall series against the Cowgirls by a 22-19 count and have won three of the last four meetings between the two schools. In Columbia, Mizzou owns a 12-5 advantage and has won the last two meetings in the Hearnes Center. Last year in Stillwater, the two teams waged a back and forth battle with OSU jumping out to an 11-0 lead before MU bounced back to take a 32-27 lead at the half. However, the Cowgirls used a 41-13 run to close out the contest and cruise to a 73-57 win in their conference opener. OSU got a 26-point effort from Trisha Skibbe on 10-of-11 shooting from the floor, while Tari Cummings added 22 points.
LAST TIME OUT
OSU got a career-high 16 points from freshman Meghan Craig and a season-best six assists from senior Chantoya Hawkins on Tuesday night against Colorado, but saw its losing streak extended to two games after suffering a 64-50 loss to the Buffaloes. Guard Thia Willis came off the bench to pour in 13 points on 5-of-7 from the field, including a 3-of-4 effort from the three-point line. For the first time in 11 games, center Trisha Skibbe was held under double figures in the scoring column, tallying nine points. However, the Oxford, Kan., native narrowly missed her fourth double-double of the season as she also snared nine rebounds on the evening.
