Stillwater, Okla. - Victor Williams, a senior guard on the Cowboy basketball team, was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today, in a vote by a media panel that regularly covers the league.
Williams averaged 20 points per game in two wins last week over ranked opponents. The Kansas City, Kan., native scored 16 points and hit the game-winning shot with 3.6 seconds remaining in OSU's 48-46 win over No. 5 Oklahoma.
In the 76-56 victory over No. 11 Missouri, Williams connected on 9-of-14 shots from the floor, including 4-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc, scoring a season-high 24 points. He had five assists and just one turnover vs. the Tigers.
During the week, Williams moved from 31st to 27th place on the OSU career scoring list, and needs just five more points to move into the top 25.
Williams is the second Cowboy to win a weekly honor by the league. Junior guard Tony Allen was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the period ending Jan. 12.
