Allen Earns Big 12 Rookie Of The Week Honors

Tony Allen, a junior for the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball squad, earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors for his performance during the week of Jan. 6-12, it was announced today by the league office.
Allen, a 6-4 guard from Chicago, Ill.,scored 20 points in OSU's 91-58 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week, and followed that with a 29-point performance in the Cowboys' conference opener with Texas A&M last weekend. He also averaged seven rebounds in the two games, including a nine-rebound output at Texas A&M.
Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Allen had seven assists and five steals, both career highs. For the week, he averaged 24.5 points per game and shot 59.3 percent from the floor, including a 7-of-10 effort from beyond the three-point arc.
Allen is the first Cowboy to win Phillips 66/Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors since Ivan McFarlin earned the honor last February.
