Oklahoma State hosts the Oklahoma Sooners on Monday, Jan. 13, in the 201st edition of Bedlam Basketball. OSU is 12-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play after a 93-76 win at Texas A&M on Saturday. OU is 10-2, 1-0 and coming off a 69-54 win over Colorado Saturday afternoon in Norman. The Sooners lead the all-time series with the Cowboys, 117-83, although OSU holds a 53-40 margin in games played in Stillwater. Monday night's game will also be the 400th OSU game coached by Eddie Sutton. He is 284-115 in his 13 years at Oklahoma State.

Monday night's game between OSU and OU will be televised nationally on ESPN as part of the Big Monday package. Ron Franklin will handle the play-by-play duties, while Jon Sundvold will provide expert analysis.
Last Time Out For OSU
Tony Allen scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Cowboys overcame a nine-point first-half deficit to defeat Texas A&M, 93-76, in the conference opener for both schools. Allen was 10-of-17 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Cheyne Gadson scored 17 points, tying a career high, off the bench, while Victor Williams (14), Melvin Sanders (12) and Ivan McFarlin (11) each scored in double figures. Williams also had eight assists, a season high. The Cowboys trailed in the first half, thanks mostly to some excellent shooting by the Aggies, who shot 59.1 percent from the floor and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. But, in the second half, as the Cowboy defense buckled down, Texas A&M faltered, shooting just 34.4 percent from the field and 1-of-14 from long range. Oklahoma State shot 54.4 percent for the game, including 64.3 percent (18-of-28) in the second period. OSU outrebounded the Aggies, 37-30. OSU outscored A&M by 35 points over the final 21 minutes of the game, including a 7-0 spurt to end the first half. A&M's Bernard King had 27 points for the Aggies, making 11-of-15 shots from the charity stripe. However, OSU's defense, led by Allen, limited Aggie phenom frosh Antoine Wright to 15 points on 14 shots.

The Oklahoma Sooners are ranked ninth nationally in both polls, and bring to Stillwater a 10-2 overall record and 1-0 in league play after a 69-54 win over Colorado Saturday afternoon in Norman. Senior guard Hollis Price leads the Sooners with a 18.5 points per game average, just ahead of senior guard Ebi Ere's 18.4 ppg average. The OU starting five are scoring 77.4 percent of the team's points. Oklahoma is limiting its opponents to a league-best 59.4 points per contest. The Sooners are also outrebounding their opponents by an average of 7.6 boards per game, and has a plus-3.9 turnover margin.
Last Time Out for OU
Ebi Ere scored 20 points and Hollis Price added 19 as the ninth-ranked Sooners defeated Colorado, 69-54, Saturday afternoon in the league opener for both schools. The senior duo managed to shoot just 36.7 percent for the game, but made 7-of-14 three pointers. The OU defense was outstanding, allowing the Buffs to shoot just 31.1 percent for the game on 19-of-61 shooting. Oklahoma shot poorly itself, connecting on just 22-of-63 shots, or 34.9 percent. The Sooners also outrebounded Colorado, 52-41. Michel Morandais did scored 18 points for CU, but took 17 shots to get there.
Series With Oklahoma: Sooners lead, 117-83
Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 117-83, although OSU holds a 53-40 margin in games played in Stillwater. Since the Big 12 was formed in 1996-97, the Cowboys have a 7-6 record vs. the Sooners. Since Eddie Sutton became head coach at OSU, the Cowboys are 15-11 vs. their Bedlam rival. OSU has won four of the last seven, and 12 of the last 20. Over the last 10 games, the series is tied at five games each. Oklahoma State won the last meeting, a 79-72 overtime victory in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Sutton Coaches in 400th Game at OSU
Oklahoma State Coach Eddie Sutton will coach in his 400th game at OSU Monday night, when the Cowboys host the Oklahoma Sooners in Gallagher-Iba Arena. He's already coached in more games for OSU than the 10 previous coaches combined, and ranks second only to Mr. Iba, who coached in 971 career games at OSU over a span of 36 years. Sutton is 284-115 in his 13 years at OSU.

Oklahoma State will host its second ranked opponent in as many games on Saturday as the No. 13 Missouri Tigers come to Stillwater on Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is set for 12:45 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Missouri is 10-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 action this season after a 77-69 win over Baylor on Saturday in Columbia. Mizzou plays Syracuse Monday night in New York.
Allen Living up to Expectations
Junior transfer Tony Allen is doing it all for Oklahoma State. The 6-4 guard leads the team in scoring, averaging 17 points per game this season, and is an all-around player for the Cowboys. He has reached 20 points in each of the last three games, including a career-high 29 vs. Texas A&M. Over the last six games, Allen has connected on 42-of-70 shots from the floor, or 60 percent, and averaged 19.7 points in those six. He has made at least one three pointer in 10 of OSU's 13 games, and is shooting 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from beyond the arc. Tony leads the league in three-point shooting by percentage. He had a career-high nine rebounds vs. Texas A&M in College Station, and had career bests in assists (7) and steals (5) vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Chicago native is averaging 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per contest. Defensively, Tony is joining Melvin Sanders as one of the top stoppers on the squad. He limited A&M freshman phenom Antoine Wright to just 15 points on 14 shot attempts.
Stifling Defense
Eddie Sutton has always preached solid defense, and while OSU's offense has struggled at times this season, the defense has been outstanding. Through 13 games, OSU is allowing just 60.4 points per game (second-best in the Big 12) and had not given up more than 69 points in a contest before A&M's 76-point performance. OSU is allowing its opponents to shoot just 37.2 percent from the floor, second-best in the conference. On the defensive glass, OSU is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 10.4 boards per game. OSU is also averaging 10.38 steals per game (third-best in Big 12 behind Texas Tech and Kansas) and 5.92 blocks per contest (second-best in league behind ISU's 6.46 bpg).
McFarlin a Warrior
Ivan McFarlin is the prototypical Coach Sutton player, a "warrior". I-Mac is the toughest player on the team, and certainly one of the hardest workers in the league. He scored a career-high 24 points vs. UMKC and, three games later, broke that with a 27-point performance. In the UMKC game, McFarlin also had 14 rebounds, recording the eighth double-double of his career. Ivan is second in the conference with a 63.4 shooting percentage from the floor. He is averaging 12.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest, including 45 on the offensive glass.
Cowboys Host Block Parties
On two occasions this season, Oklahoma State has blocked 13 shots in a single game, the third-best mark in school history. OSU had 13 deflections vs. Hartford, and did the same at Wichita State. In three games at the Great Alaska Shootout, OSU had 18 blocked shots. This season, OSU has 77 blocked shots as a team, an average of 5.92 per game and the second-most in the Big 12 Conference behind Iowa State, which is averaging 6.46 blocks per contest.
What a Bunch of Thieves
Oklahoma State has 135 steals this season, led by Victor Williams' 31. Tony Allen has 29, while Melvin Sanders has 26. Those three Cowboys rank first, fourth and sixth, respectively, in the Big 12 in steals per game. As a team, OSU is third in the league, averaging 10.38 thefts per contest. Texas Tech leads the Big 12 at 10.92 spg, while Kansas is second, averaging 10.57 per contest.
Williams Ranks Among Elite Shot Blockers
Forward Andre Williams leads the team with 37 blocked shots so far this season, and is just three away from moving past Leroy Combs and into fourth place on the all-time OSU career blocked shots list. Andre had five blocks in the season opener vs. Yale, and had three vs. Alaska-Anchorage. He added three more vs. the College of Charleston, and had two vs. Michigan State. His four vs. Hartford led a team total of 13. Most recently, he had three vs. Northwestern State, and one each vs. Fresno State and UMKC. He had a career high with eight blocks vs. Wichita State, and extended his streak of games with at least one blocked shot to 11 with one against BYU. That string was broken vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, when Andre failed to block a shot. He had four at Texas A&M. He is currently averaging 2.84 blocks per game this season, and is second in the league behind Colorado's David Harrison (3.07 blocks per game).
Vic Moving up the Scoring Chart
With 14 points vs. Texas A&M, senior Victor Williams now has 926 points in his OSU career. Victor is 14 points from surpassing Clayton Carter for 30th on the school career-scoring list. He had a season-high 22 points vs. Arkansas. Victor has 1,171 points in his career at the Division I level, including 245 his freshman season at Illinois State. Victor also leads the league in steals, averaging 2.38 per game.
Williams Ranks in Top 15
Victor Williams has 284 assists in his two-plus year career at Oklahoma State. That ranks him 13th among all-time OSU career assist leaders. With five assists vs. Yale in the season opener, Williams surpassed Randy Rutherford, who had 239 dishes from 1993-95. Vic is eight assists away from moving past current OSU Associate Head Coach Sean Sutton, who had 291 assists in his two-year career with Oklahoma State. Vic has 387 career assists, including a game-high nine vs. Texas A&M on Feb. 21, 2001, and a season-high 126 last season. He had a season-high eight dishes vs. Texas A&M.
Sanders Has String of Starts
Cowboy senior Melvin Sanders has started every game of his Cowboy career, and has moved into fifth-place on the consecutive starts list. Sanders needs 12 more starts to tie Bryant Reeves, who started 87 consecutive contests from 1993-95, and 13 starts to tie Darwyn Alexander. Fifteen starts would move Melvin into second-place on the consecutive-starts list.
Sutton Approaches 1,000th Game in Career
Oklahoma State Coach Eddie Sutton has coached in 993 career Division I games, the fourth most by an active coach. He is just seven games away from his 1,000th game, and will coach that game on Feb. 5, 2003, against the Kansas State Wildcats in Gallagher-Iba Arena. There are 16 coaches in NCAA history that have achieved that mark, including Sutton's mentor, Henry Iba, who coached in 1,105 games.
National Rankings
Oklahoma State is ranked nationally in a couple of statistical categories. As a team, the Cowboys are ranked sixth nationally in field-goal percentage defense at 36.2 (212-of-585) as of Sunday, Jan. 5. Oklahoma State's scoring defense of 58.9 points per game ranks 14th nationally. Individually, senior forward Andre Williams ranks 11th in blocked shots per game, averaging three blocks per contest. Junior forward Ivan McFarlin ranks 12th nationally in field-goal percentage, connecting on 57-of-90 shots from the floor, or 63.3 percent.
