Stillwater, Okla. - Ivan McFarlin, a junior-to-be on the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball squad, will be one of 12 members of the Big 12 All-Star team that will tour Scandinavia, it was announced today. The team will play six games in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
McFarlin, a two-time Rookie of the Week last season, was also named honorable mention All-Big 12 by both the league coaches and the Associated Press. He was 10th in the conference rebounding with a 7.7 average, and had nine double-figure rebounding games, including 17 vs. Nebraska. McFarlin was also second in the league with a .614 field-goal percentage.
"This is an honor," said McFarlin. "It will give me some exposure, and I'll get to see other parts of the world. It will be a good trip with all the players from the Big 12 coming together and playing as one. It will help support the Big 12 and show the world what type of players the Big 12 has."
Other members of the team are Lawrence Roberts of Baylor, Colorado's Blair Wilson, Jake Sullivan of Iowa State, Kansas' Bryant Nash, Pervis Pasco of Kansas State, Missouri's Travon Bryant, Jake Muhleisen of Nebraska, Oklahoma's Quannas White, Deginald Erskin of Texas, Texas A&M's Nick Anderson and Will Chavis of Texas Tech.
The All-Stars will report to Dallas on August 2 and practice two days before their journey overseas on Aug. 5. The team will play a total of six games over 10 days and return to the U.S. on Aug. 16.
