Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball program has signed three junior college players to national letters of intent, it was announced today.
Tony Allen, a shooting guard originally from Chicago, Ill., comes to OSU via Wabash Valley Community College. He led the team to a fourth-place finish at the Junior College National Tournament last month with a 32-6 record, and was named to the All-Tournament team. He averaged 22.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in four games while shooting 61 percent from the floor (50 percent from three-point range) and 82.4 percent from the charity stripe.
As a freshman at Butler County Community College in El Dorado, Kan., Allen was named second-team All-Jayhawk West Conference and was the Jayhawk West Freshman of the Year.
"He was my best defender, so he often guarded the other team's best guy," said Wabash Valley head coach Mark Nelson. "He gave us toughness and rebounding. Plus, he gave us some scoring and athleticism."
Allen chose Oklahoma State over a host of schools, including Clemson, Auburn, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Creighton, Illinois-Chicago and Kansas.
Janavor Weatherspoon, a point guard originally from Camden, Del., comes to Oklahoma State from Odessa College. He was named a third-team NJCAA All-American last season after averaging 24.4 points per contest, the fifth best in the country.
Weatherspoon also averaged 4.8 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per contest. He shot 51.6 percent from the floor, 44.7 percent (55-of-123) from beyond the three-point arc, and 74 percent from the charity stripe.
His freshman season, Weatherspoon averaged 12 points per game coming off the bench, including two assists and three rebounds per contest. He connected on 57 percent of his shots from the floor, including 44 percent from long range.
A two-time All-State selection in Delaware, Weatherspoon was named an honorable mention All-USA player by USA Today his senior season. He originally signed with Old Dominion. He attended Winchendon Prep School in Massachusetts, and went the juco route to Odessa College.
Out of high school, he was recruited by West Virginia, George Washington, TCU and North Carolina State. He chose Oklahoma State over Mississippi State, Florida State, Texas A&M, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Iowa State and UTEP this spring.
Mory Correa, a 6-9 post player originally from France, comes to Oklahoma State via Pratt Community College in Kansas. He was named first-team All-Region VI following his sophomore season, when he averaged 15.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
His freshman season, he averaged 14.6 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 5.6 percent from the floor and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line. His career juco stats include a 14.9 points-per-game average, with 9.5 rebounds per game and a 52.8 shooting percentage from the floor and 72.1 percent from the charity stripe.
Correa chose Oklahoma State over Duquesne, Illinois, Kansas State and Texas Tech, among others.
