AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State was able to hold No. 14 Texas at bay on Saturday until the sixth inning when the Longhorns exploded for five runs to claim the win, 5-0.
Texas freshman Cat Osterman became the first pitcher to throw a perfect game against the Cowgirls this year, striking out 15-of-21 batters faced and never allowing a ball out of the infield.
Left-hander Lauren Bay held Texas to one hit until the sixth inning when the Longhorns pushed five runs across the plate on three hits.
Texas led off the inning with back-to-back singles and two stolen bases to move runners into scoring position with no outs. Bay then walked the next batter to load the bases and the shutout faded away for Oklahoma State, as five rounded the bases before the rally could be stopped.
Lauren Bay (19-12) faced 21 batters in 5-2/3 innings of work before Cami Carter entered to pick up the final out in the bottom of the sixth. Bay struck out eight, walked three and gave up five earned runs on four hits in the losing effort.
The Cowgirls (29-20, 8-9) wrap up the regular season Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m., against the Longhorns.
