Cowgirls Outlast The Lady Bears, 2-1, In 12 Innings

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team celebrated senior day by outlasting No. 23 Baylor, 2-1, Sunday in 12 innings.
Both teams were able to plate one run in the 11th thanks to the international tie-breaker rule that places a runner on second base to start the inning.
Sarah Caudle started on second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kristen Lancaster. Danelle Arnold provided the second sacrifice hit of the inning for the Lady Bears and Caudle scored to break-up the shutout.
Oklahoma State answered in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on an error by the Lady Bears.
Kipp started the bottom of the inning on second and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Casey O'Neill. OSU evened the score when a throw by Baylor shortstop Kim Wilmoth pulled first baseman Kourtny Westerfeld off the bag and allowed Stephanie Hodges to reach first and Kipp to cross home plate.
After holding Baylor scoreless in the top of the 12th, OSU scored a second run on an error by Baylor. Jade Lindly started the inning on second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Megan Carey.
With Lindly just one away from scoring, Baylor sent in its third pitcher of the day, Cristin Vitek.
Vitek responded by walking the first batter she faced, Calli Behmer. With two outs, Lindly attempted to steal home and scored the winning run on a muffed throw by catcher, Danelle Arnold.
Left-hander Lauren Bay (18-10) threw over 170 pitches en route to picking up the win over the Lady Bears. In 12 innings, Bay scattered six hits, walked three and struck out 12 batters.
Oklahoma State improves to 27-18 overall and 6-7 in the Big 12, while Baylor falls to 45-14 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12.
The Cowgirls return to action Monday, April 22, when they host Iowa State for a doubleheader. The series is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start and will be the final home games for Oklahoma State this year.
