Cowgirls Shutout By Baylor, 7-0
April 20, 2002 | Cowgirl Softball
Baylor came out firing and scored the first run of the game on a RBI single by Sarah Caudle with two outs in the inning.
The Cowgirls loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth, but came out of the inning empty-handed. Casey O'Neill reached on an error by Baylor shortstop Kim Wilmoth to lead off the inning and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Stephanie Hodges.
With two outs in the inning, Jade Lindly was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game. Megan Carey followed with the base hit to load the bases, but Baylor's Joni Miller recorded the strikeout to end the inning.
Baylor secured the game in the sixth, plating six runs before OSU was able to get an out. The Lady Bears capitalized on two Cowgirl errors and added three hits to account for the scoring frenzy.
Lauren Bay took the loss for the Cowgirls, falling to 17-10. Bay threw the first five innings, striking out five, walking two and giving up six runs, one earned. After Bay faced five batters in the sixth, Cami Carter came on in relief with no outs and struck out one batter and gave up one run.
Oklahoma State (26-18) will face Baylor (45-13) again on Sunday at 1 p.m., to wrap up the series. Sunday will also serve as senior day and five Cowgirl seniors will be honored before the game.
