OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team fell to No. 13 Fresno State, 3-1, in the final day of action here Wednesday at the Farm Bureau Softball Challenge.
Fresno State jumped on the Cowgirls early, scoring one in the top of the first. With two outs, Jamie Southern singled up the middle and brought Pam Perez home for the, 1-0, lead.
Oklahoma State answered in the bottom of the frame as Jenny Kipp led off the inning with a double just inside foul territory down the left field line.
Things continued to click for the Cowgirls as Casey O'Neill provided the sacrifice bunt to move Kipp into scoring position. OSU capitalized on the opportunity and Ryan Realmuto earned the RBI with a single to center field.
The third inning proved to be the downfall of the Cowgirls and Vanessa Czarknecki started the rally for Fresno State. Czarknecki sent a double down the left field line and advanced on a base hit by Tiffany Whipple.
The Bulldogs continued to come at OSU and Pam Perez reached on a fielder's choice. Lindsay Fossatti provided the game winning hit, bringing Perez and Whipple home for the winning runs.
Cami Carter picked up the loss on the mound, throwing the first 2-1/3 innings. She struck out one batter and gave up three runs before Lauren Bay came on in relief. Bay held the Bulldogs scoreless for the final 4-2/3 innings of play, fanning seven batters and giving up two hits.
