Oklahoma State's men's tennis team defeated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 7-0, on Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif. to improve their record to 10-3 on the season.
The Cowboys got off to a strong start by sweeping through the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
Seniors Matt Prentice and Fran Krepelka defeated Mike Marquez and Erin Carroll, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Junior Jiri Jezek and freshman Angel Diankov defeated Davey Jones and Stacey Meronoff, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Mike McCarty and freshman Loren Collins completed the sweep by beating Steve Porter and Nick Tracy, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.
OSU had little trouble in singles action, winning all six matches. Five of the six wins came in straight sets.
Prentice defeated Jones at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Krepelka defeated Meronoff, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Jezek won at No. 3 singles by beating Marquez, 6-2, 6-2.
Diankov defeated Tracy at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3. After dropping the first set, McCarty bounced back to beat Carroll at No. 5 singles, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Collins completed the singles sweep at the No. 6 singles spot, beating Brandon Shainfield, 6-2, 6-0.
The Cowboys will return to action on April 3 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla. to take on the Tulsa Hurricanes at 2 p.m.
