Columbia, Mo. - Oklahoma State's softball team defeated Missouri, 5-2, here Friday at University Field. In the top of the sixth, Ryan Realmuto hit her eight home run of the season to knock home the game winning run.
Missouri struck first, taking the lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one after two walks, a stolen base and a sacrifice hit.
The Cowgirl offense responded, scoring two runs on one hit in the top of the fifth. Jade Lindly reached on a walk to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Megan Carey. Lauren Bay walked and Nicci Quiroz singled to left field to load the bases and pose the first Cowgirl scoring threat of the game.
OSU was able to capitalize on an error by Missouri's centerfielder, as both Lindly and Bay crossed the plate to give the Cowgirls a 2-1 edge.
"Nicci Quiroz came thru with a clutch hit," said Head Coach Margaret Rebenar. "Their pitcher had us a little off-balance and her hit was crucial in turning the momentum and giving us confidence at the plate."
The Tigers evened the score after five, scoring one on two wild pitches by Bay.
The Cowgirls broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth, hitting Missouri with four hits and coming out of the inning with three runs.
With one out, Stephanie Hodges got things started, reaching on a walk. Erika Ennis came on as a pinch runner and quickly rounded the bases as Ryan Realmuto knocked a two-run dinger over the left field fence.
Lindly kept the Cowgirls going, reaching on a single to center field. Megan Carey sent a double to right field and advanced to third on an errant throw that resulted in Lindly getting thrown out at second. Calli Behmer followed with a single to center field that was good for the RBI and final run of the game.
En route to picking up her 14th win on the mound, Bay allowed just one hit. She walked five and struck out 11, her third double-digit strikeout game in four conference outings.
Oklahoma State (21-11) returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when it wraps up the series with the Tigers in Columbia.
