Columbia, Mo. - Oklahoma State's softball team completed the sweep of Missouri here Saturday at University Field, defeating the Tigers, 3-1, to wrap up the series. Jade Lindly got the Cowgirls rolling in the top of the fourth, hitting her 11th home run of the season and taking sole possession of the season home run record with the long ball.
The Cowgirls managed just three hits in the first three innings of play before getting hot in the fourth inning, scoring three runs off of three hits.
Jade Lindly sparked the Cowgirls in the top of the fourth, leading off with a solo shot to right center. With the long ball, Lindly extended her hitting streak to five games and her home run total to a team-high 11. Megan Carey played smart at the plate, reaching on a walk and advancing to second on a Calli Behmer sacrifice bunt.
With two outs, Summer Younk kept OSU alive, drawing the second walk of the inning. Jenny Kipp followed with the game winning hit, a double to left center that sent Carey and Younk home and gave the Cowgirls a 3-0 advantage.
Heading into the final frame, it looked as if Cami Carter would pick up her third shutout of the season, but with two outs Melanie Fisher scored the lone Tiger run, crossing the plate on a Heather Kunkel single.
Carter (8-4) went the distance for the Cowgirls, striking out four and walking one while allowing three hits.
Oklahoma State (22-11, 3-3) returns to Cowgirl Stadium for two mid-week games vs. Oklahoma and Wichita State. The Cowgirls kick of the week Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., hosting the Sooners for round one of bedlam.
