Kaneahe, Hawaii - Oklahoma State senior Emma Zackrisson shot an even-par 72 during the final round here Wednesday afternoon, earning medalist honors and leading the eighth-ranked Cowgirls to the team title of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Rainbow Wahine Invitational. It was Zackrisson's first tournament win as a Cowgirl.
"I'm so happy to win, especially my last trip to Hawaii," said Zackrisson. "But, more importantly, I'm happy our team won."
The Cowgirls have now won back-to-back titles in Hawaii, winning last year's tournament by three strokes over Arizona. This is also OSU's second team title of the season, having won the Big 12 Invitational last fall.
Oklahoma State finished with a three-round total of 908, 12 strokes better than second-place Oklahoma (920). TCU finished third at 924, Tennessee finished fourth at 926 and Kent State rounded out the top five teams with a 946.
Cowgirl juniors Christi Cano and Linda Wessberg finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while freshman Lisa Jean earned her first top-20 finish by shooting a 236, good enough for 17th place. Fellow freshman Annie Thurman rounded out the Cowgirl golfers with a 237, finishing 22nd.
Oklahoma State will return to action next Monday, March 25, as the Cowgirls compete in the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas.
