Cowboy Basketball Picked Sixth In Preseason Coaches Poll

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team has been picked sixth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll, it was announced today by the league office. OSU received 76 points, just one point behind No. 5 Texas Tech.
Kansas was selected as the team to win the league, garnering seven first-place votes and 116 overall points. Oklahoma was second with 113 points, and Texas was third with 103 points. Missouri rounded out the top four, receiving 86 points.
The bottom half of the league was Iowa State (seventh with 54 points), Baylor (47 points), Colorado (43), Nebraska (36), Kansas State (22) and Texas A&M (19). Points were awarded with 11 points for first, 10 for second, nine for third, etc. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
Cowboy junior Ivan McFarlin also received votes in the Coaches Preseason All-Big 12 Team. The team consists of Kansas' Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich, Andre Emmett of Texas Tech, Texas' TJ Ford, and Hollis Price of Oklahoma.
Oklahoma State opens the 2002-03 season on Tues., Nov. 12, as the Cowboys host Global Sports in exhibition action at 7 p.m.
