Wednesday's Game
Oklahoma State travels down I-35 this week for a game with the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. in the Lloyd Noble Center. OSU is 17-3 overall and 4-3 in league play after a 64-55 win over Colorado Saturday in Stillwater. OU is 15-3 overall, 4-2 in Big 12 action after a 92-79 setback vs. Texas Tech in Lubbock. Wednesday's game will be televised on ESPN Regional.
Last Time Out For Oklahoma State
Cowboy Maurice Baker got closer to being his old self with 16 points and eight rebounds as the Cowboys defeated Colorado, 64-55, Saturday afternoon in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Ivan McFarlin scored 12 points and grabbed eight boards in just 19 minutes of action before fouling out. Fredrik J?nz?n also scored 11 points and got nine caroms for OSU. The Cowboys shot just 39.3 percent, butlimited the Buffaloes to just 33.9 percent, including 17.6 percent from beyond the arc. Oklahoma State held Colorado to just 23 points in the second period, the lowest single-half scoring by an OSU opponent since UMKC was limited to just 21 points in a period. Fans in attendance observed a moment of silence during halftime to celebrate the lives of 10 men lost last season in the plane crash.

Wedensday's game with Oklahoma will be produced by ESPN Regional, part of the Big 12 Conference's television package. Dave Armstrong will handle the play-by-play duties, while Paul Splittorff will provide expert analysis.
OSU-OU: The Series
Oklahoma leads the all-time Bedlam series in basketball, 116-82, including a 70-25 mark in Norman. Oklahoma state has won two of the last four meetings in Lloyd Noble Center. The Cowboys have won 14 of the last 23, all in the Eddie Sutton Era.
Last Time Out For Oklahoma
Hollis Price scored a game-high 27 points, but Texas Tech had five players in double figures as the Red Raiders defeated the Oklahoma Sooners, 92-79, in Lubbock last Saturday. Aaron McGhee added 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss. Much like against OSU, Tech was on fire from the floor, connecting on 34-of-60 (56.7 percent) of its shots. OU was 15-of-17 from the line and had just 10 turnovers, but shot just 44.6 percent from the floor. Jabahri Brown had just two points for the Sooners in 18 minutes.
Up Next: Kansas State and Texas Tech
The Cowboys will travel to Manhattan, Kan., this weekend to face Kansas State (7-10 overall, 1-5 Big 12) on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 12:45 p.m. Next Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Cowboys will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders (15-3, 4-2) and attempt to avenge an earlier loss to TTU in Lubbock. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time vs. Oklahoma
Maurice Baker scored a career-high 31 points for Oklahoma State, but No. 17 Oklahoma offset that with scoring balance and strong interior defense in a 68-56 victory last season in Norman. Hollis Price scored 16 points, including a big shot clock-beating three pointer with 1:23 to play, while Nolan Johnson also scored 16 points for the Sooners, who never trailed after an early 13-2 run gave them a 10-point lead. Aaron McGhee had 11 points and Kelley Newton added nine. Oklahoma State had beaten the Sooners by 28 points in Stillwater on Feb. 14, when Victor Williams scored a career-high 26. This time, Williams had only three. Forward Fredrik J?nz?n, the Cowboys' second-leading scorer at 15 points per game, was 1-of-6 from the field and finished with four points. No Cowboy other than Baker scored in double figures, and Baker also led the team with nine rebounds. The Cowboys shot just 41 percent and committed 23 turnovers. Despite getting little production from anyone but Baker, Oklahoma State only trailed 58-54 with just over three minutes remaining after two free throws and a driving basket by Baker. But Price made two of three free throws at the 2:08 mark, then made the most of a broken play by hitting a 25-foot shot as the 35-second clock expired, pushing the lead to 63-54 with 1:23 to go. Oklahoma made four 3-pointers in the first eight minutes, including two by Newton, in a 13-2 run that gave the Sooners their 20-10 lead. Baker scored all of Oklahoma State's points in a 9-2 run that got the Cowboys within 22-19. The margin was seven at halftime and the Sooners opened a 13-point lead early in the second half. A 10-3 run in which Baker scored five points pulled the Cowboys within 46-40, but Oklahoma was able to maintain that cushion until the late going when Oklahoma State got within four.
McFarlin Earns Conference Honor
Sophomore Ivan McFarlin was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week in voting done by a media panel for the week ending Jan. 27. McFarlin averaged 16 points and 12.5 rebounds in two conference wins last week for OSU. The 6-8 forward opened the week registering career highs in points (20) and rebounds (17) in the 70-63 victory over Nebraska. The 17 boards were the most by a Cowboy since All-American Bryant Reeves pulled down 20 rebounds against Kansas in 1995. McFarlin, a native of Missouri City, Texas, had three blocked shots vs. the Huskers, his sixth multiple-block game of the season. In the 64-55 win over Colorado, McFarlin made 6-of-8 shots and scored 12 points. He also had eight rebounds against the Buffs.
High Rankings Rare in Bedlam
Despite 198 meetings between the bedlam rivals on the hardcourt, there have only been four instances when both were ranked in the top-25 nationally. OSU won three of the four. Cowboys In The Polls
Oklahoma State is currently ranked ninth in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cowboys moved up two spots after defeating Nebraska and Colorado last week. OSU's No. 5 ranking earlier this season was the highest ranking OSU has achieved since the Cowboys were ranked second nationally in mid-February of 1992. OSU was ranked No. 2 for two weeks before dropping back to eighth that year. Five of Oklahoma State's opponents this season are ranked in the top 25 of at least one poll (Kansas, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Missouri and Texas), while two more (Texas Tech, Ball State) are receiving votes in at least one of the polls.
Baker Ranks in Top 30 All-Time
With 16 points vs. Colorado, Maurice Baker now has 912 points in his career at OSU. He surpassed James King for 30th on the OSU career scoring list, making him just the third player in the top 30 with just two years in a Cowboy uniform, joining current Director of Basketball Operations Brooks Thompson (996 points in 1993-94) and Ed Odom (945 points in 1979-80).
J?nz?n, Sanders Consistently in the Starting Lineup
Senior Fredrik J?nz?n and junior Melvin Sanders have started 56 and 50 consecutive games, respectively, for OSU ranking seventh and ninth on the Cowboy consecutive starts list. J?nz?n needs four more to move past Raymond Crewshaw (59) for fifth, while Sanders needs seven more to surpass Brett Robisch (56) for eighth on the list.
McFarlin Posting Big Numbers
Oklahoma State sophomore Ivan McFarlin is showing the league what the coaching staff has known all along - he's a prime-time player. Against Nebraska, he set career highs in both points and rebounds with 20 and 17, respectively. It was the most rebounds by a Cowboy since Bryant Reeves had 20 vs. Kansas in 1995. In I-Mac's first season with the Cowboys (he was a partial qualifier last year), he has 13 double-figure scoring games with a season-high of 20 points. He also recorded his first double-double in the second game of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Austin Peay. He had back-to-back double-doubles with 10 and 10 vs. Arkansas and 11 and 11 vs. Ball State. He had four-straight double-figure rebounding games through one stint in the season. In the first exhibition game of the season, I-Mac had 20 rebounds, including 10 on each end of the court. He leads the team in steals with 32 and is also second on the team with his 20 blocked shots. He is third in the Big 12 Conference in field-goal shooting, connecting on 60 percent of his shots.
Victor Williams Showing Leadership Qualities
With fellow starting guard Maurice Baker hampered by injury, junior Victor Williams stepped up with 18 points vs. Texas. It was his third-straight game with 17 or more points, and he now has 14 double-figure scoring games this season. Vic is third on the team in scoring with a 12.3 ppg average, and is also second on the team in free-throw percentage (.792). He has 74 assists, second on the team, and 41 turnovers, a 1.80 assist-to-turnover ratio.
J?nz?n Moving Up Scoring Chart
With 13 points vs. Ball State, senior center Fredrik J?nz?n became just the 23rd player in school history to record 1,000 points in their career. He now has 1,090 points, ranking 21st on the OSU career scoring list. Fred is now 23 points from surpassing Richard Dumas and moving into the top 20 all-time. Dumas had 1,112 from 1988-90.
J?nz?n Nearing 700 Career Rebounds
Senior center Fredrik J?nz?n moved into ninth-place on the career rebounding chart with his seven boards vs. Northwestern State. He now has 670 in his four years at OSU. He is just the 10th player in school history to record 600 boards in a career. With his 1,090 points, he is the eighth player in school history to record 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in a career.
OSU Post Players Host Block Party
Through the first 20 games, OSU has blocked 75 shots, and average of 3.8 swats a game. Andre Williams leads the team with 22, followed by Ivan McFarlin with 21 and Antoine Broxsie with 15 blocked shots. Fredrik J?nz?n has eight, while Maurice Baker has five. Melvin Sanders has two and Jack Marlow has one. Williams had four vs. Cincinnati, three vs. Northwestern State and three more vs. Texas, while Broxsie had three vs. TCU, New Orleans and Northwestern State. McFarlin had three vs. North Texas, Ball State and Nebraska.
Andre Williams Fifth on All-Time Blocked Shots Chart
Oklahoma State junior Andre Williams recorded four blocks in the first game of the seeason vs. Cincinnati, and has 22 total this year. He became just the fifth player in school history to reach the century mark in blocked shots in his career. The amazing fact is that he accomplished that feat in just two seasons, the second Cowboy ever to do so. Byron Houston had 131 blocks after his sophomore year, and also owns the all-time career blocked-shots record with 223. Andre has had six multiple-block games this season, including three vs. Northwestern State and Texas.
