Last Time Out For Oklahoma State
Cowboy sophomore Ivan McFarlin recorded his fourth double-double of the season with career highs in both points (20) and rebounds (17) as Oklahoma State ended a two-game losing streak with a 70-63 win over Nebraska Wednesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys used just seven players, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Fredrik J?nz?n scored 13, Maurice Baker 12, Melvin Sanders 11 and Victor Williams 10. OSU shot just 40 percent from the floor, but outrebounded the Huskers by 23, 45-22. That dominance on the boards accounted for a 22-7 margin in second-chance points for the Cowboys. Baker also had a game-high eight assists and seven rebounds before fouling out. OSU limited Nebraska's long-range shooting to just 36 percent, although the Huskers did connect on nine three-point shots in 25 attempts.
OSU-Colorado on Television
Saturday's game with Colorado will be produced by ESPN Regional, part of the Big 12 Conference's television package. Fred White will be doing the play-by-play, while Paul Splittorf will provide expert analysis..
OSU-Colorado: The Series
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Colorado, 53-44, inclduing a 33-10 margin in games played in Stillwater. CU has won three of the last five meetings, but the Cowboys have won 11 of the last 14.
Last Time Out For Colorado
Blair Wilson was 7-of-11 from three-point range, accounting for all of his points off the bench, as Colorado defeated Kansas State, 85-71, at home on Tuesday night. David Harrison added 17 points for CU, while Stephane Pelle and D.J. Harrison chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively. Pelle also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. It all came down to shooting as Colorado shot 49.2 percent from the floor, compared to just 40 percent for KSU. The Buffaloes also shot 41.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc, connecting on 10-of-24.
One Year Later
Oklahoma State has no plans to formally remember the 10 men that died in the plane crash one year ago. However, there will be a moment of silence observed at halftime of the OSU-Colorado game. On Sunday, Jan. 27, at precisely 6:37 p.m. CT, the bells of the Edmon Low Library, as well as those in churches all around town, will be rung 10 times, once for each of the lives lost.
Up Next: Bedlam!
Oklahoma State travel down I-35 to Norman on Wednesday, Jan. 30, as the Cowboys face sixth-ranked Oklahoma (15-2 overall, 4-1 Big 12) in part I of Bedlam 2002. The Sooners will return the favor on Feb. 13, when they travel to Stillwater. Both games will be televised on ESPN Regional television.
Last Time vs. Colorado
Jamahl Mosley had 20 points and 11 rebounds, pacing five Colorado players in double figures as the Buffaloes ended Oklahoma State's five-game winning streak, 81-71, last season. Colorado shot 48 percent in the second half compared to the Cowboys' 39 percent, steadily pulling away to its largest lead, 79-56, with 2:45 remaining. Blair Wilson, Stephane Pelle and D.J. Harrison all added 13 points for Colorado, and Nick Mohr had 12. Maurice Baker led Oklahoma State with 27 points. Andre Williams had 15 points and 16 rebounds. Oklahoma State opened the second half with an 11-3 run to produce its only lead of the half, 46-45. The Buffs countered with a 34-10 flurry. Mosley had seven points in a 10-0 run that opened the surge, including a three-point play and a fastbreak slam. Wilson hit two 3-pointers, the second of which put Colorado ahead 58-48 with 9:15 left. The Cowboys scored the last 13 points, including nine points by Baker. Mosley scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first half as Colorado took a 42-35 lead at intermission. Oklahoma State's 7-0 run in the first half, capped by Williams' rebound dunk, put the Cowboys ahead 21-18 with 10:35 left in the half. The Buffs countered with a 16-5 run to forge a 34-26 lead with 5:09 left. Two free throws by Wilson gave the Buffs their biggest lead of the half, 40-29, with 2:09 remaining, but back-to-back baskets by Baker and Williams' soaring rebound slam at the buzzer trimmed the deficit.
Last Time in Stillwater
With 13th-ranked Oklahoma State trailing 14-5, Desmond Mason scored 12 straight OSU points to turn the deficit into a 17-16 lead. He wound up with 29 points in the Cowboys' 96-60 victory two years ago in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Mason, coming off a 2-of-11 performance in a loss to Iowa State, scored 19 points in the first half. He wound up making four of his five 3-point tries. Mason made five straight shots in just over three minutes. He hit two medium-range jumpers, then consecutive 3-pointers and finally another jumper. His offensive surge translated into better defense as well. Colorado made five of its first six shots to build its early lead, then hit just one basket over the final 14 minutes of the half. The score was 23-21 when the Cowboys went on a 10-2 run capped by a 3-pointer by Mason. Glendon Alexander, who finished with 20 points, made consecutive 3s as Oklahoma State pushed its lead to 43-27 at halftime. Colorado was 2-of-14 from the field in the first half after its quick start. Kyle Williams' follow shot at the 14:06 mark was the Buffaloes' last field goal until Williams hit a leaner with 1:03 remaining. The Buffaloes got within 50-39 in the second half before the Cowboys went on a 17-2 run. Alexander had two 3-pointers during the spurt and Joe Adkins had one. Jaquay Walls, leading the Buffaloes with 17 points per game, scored 14 but was just 3-of-11 from the field. He had five points in the first two minutes but didn't score the rest of the half.
Cowboy Noteworthy

* Oklahoma State's 13-0 start to the season was the third-best in school history. The 1991-92 Cowboys started the year off 20-0, while the Aggies of 1950-51 began the year with 16 wins before a loss.
Cowboys In The Polls
Oklahoma State is currently ranked 11th in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cowboys dropped five spots after falling to Kansas and Texas Tech last week. OSU's No. 5 ranking earlier this season was the highest ranking OSU has achieved since the Cowboys were ranked second nationally in mid-February of 1992. OSU was ranked No. 2 for two weeks before dropping back to eighth that year. Five of Oklahoma State's opponents this season are ranked in the top 25 of at least one poll (Kansas, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Missouri and Texas), while two more (Texas Tech, Ball State) are receiving votes in at least one of the polls.
Baker Nearing Top 30 All-Time
With 12 points vs. Nebraska, Maurice Baker now has 896 points in his career at OSU. He surpassed James King for 30th on the OSU career scoring list, making him just the third player in the top 30 with just two years in a Cowboy uniform, joining current Director of Basketball Operations Brooks Thompson (996 points in 1993-94) and Ed Odom (945 points in 1979-80).
J?nz?n, Sanders Consistently in the Starting Lineup
Senior Fredrik J?nz?n and junior Melvin Sanders have started 55 and 49 consecutive games, respectively, for OSU ranking eighth and 10th on the Cowboy consecutive starts list. J?nz?n needs two more to move past Brett Robisch (56) for seventh, while Sanders needs two more to surpass Brooks Thompson (50) for ninth on the list.
Gallagher-Iba Arena Named Nation's Best
Gallagher-Iba Arena, the home of Oklahoma State athletics since 1938, has once again been named the No. 1 collegiate basketball facility in the nation by CBSSportsline. It was described as the "ultimate combination of history, uniqueness, location and excitement," by Dan Wetzel of CBSSportsline.
McFarlin Posting Big Numbers
Oklahoma State sophomore Ivan McFarlin is showing the league what the coaching staff has known all along - he's a prime-time player. Against Nebraska, he set career highs in both points and rebounds with 20 and 17, respectively. It was the most rebounds by a Cowboy since Bryant Reeves had 20 vs. Kansas in 1995. In I-Mac's first season with the Cowboys (he was a partial qualifier last year), he has 12 double-figure scoring games with a season-high of 20 points. He also recorded his first double-double in the second game of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Austin Peay. He had back-to-back double-doubles with 10 and 10 vs. Arkansas and 11 and 11 vs. Ball State. He had four-straight double-figure rebounding games through one stint in the season. In the first exhibition game of the season, I-Mac had 20 rebounds, including 10 on each end of the court. He leads the team in steals with 32 and is also second on the team with his 20 blocked shots. He is third in the Big 12 Conference in field-goal shooting, connecting on 59.2 percent of his shots.
Victor Williams Showing Leadership Qualities
With fellow starting guard Maurice Baker hampered by injury, junior Victor Williams stepped up with 18 points vs. Texas. It was his third-straight game with 17 or more points, and he now has 14 double-figure scoring games this season. Vic is second on the team in scoring with a 12.5 ppg average, and is also second on the team in free-throw percentage (.822). He has 71 assists, second on the team, and 41 turnovers, a 1.73 assist-to-turnover ratio.
J?nz?n Moving Up Scoring Chart
With 13 points vs. Ball State, senior center Fredrik J?nz?n became just the 23rd player in school history to record 1,000 points in their career. He now has 1,079 points, ranking 21st on the OSU career scoring list. Fred is now 34 points from surpassing Richard Dumas and moving into the top 20 all-time. Dumas had 1,112 from 1988-90.
J?nz?n Surpasses 600 Career Rebounds
Senior center Fredrik J?nz?n moved into ninth-place on the career rebounding chart with his seven boards vs. Northwestern State. He now has 661 in his four years at OSU. He is just the 10th player in school history to record 600 boards in a career. With his 1,079 points, he is the eighth player in school history to record 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in a career.
OSU Post Players Host Block Party
Through the first 19 games, OSU has blocked 71 shots, and average of 3.7 swats a game. Andre Williams leads the team with 21, followed by Ivan McFarlin with 20 and Antoine Broxsie with 14 blocked shots. Fredrik J?nz?n has eight, while Maurice Baker has five. Melvin Sanders has two and Jack Marlow has one. Williams had four vs. Cincinnati, three vs. Northwestern State and three more vs. Texas, while Broxsie had three vs. TCU, New Orleans and Northwestern State. McFarlin had three vs. North Texas, Ball State and Nebraska.
Andre Williams Fifth on All-Time Blocked Shots Chart
Oklahoma State junior Andre Williams recorded four blocks in the first game of the seeason vs. Cincinnati, and has 21 total this year. He became just the fifth player in school history to reach the century mark in blocked shots in his career. The amazing fact is that he accomplished that feat in just two seasons, the second Cowboy ever to do so. Byron Houston had 131 blocks after his sophomore year, and also owns the all-time career blocked-shots record with 223. Andre has had six multiple-block games this season, including three vs. Northwestern State and Texas.
Sutton First Member of 250-250 Club
After some dilligent research by Gary Johnson at the NCAA, it has been determined that Coach Eddie Sutton is the first coach in NCAA history to win 250 games at two different Division I schools. Coach Sutton picked up 260 wins while at Arkansas, and currently has 265 at Oklahoma State. Connecticut's Jim Calhoun had 349 wins entering the season at UConn, and had 248 victories at Northeastern. Lou Henson of New Mexico State had 423 wins at Illinois and has 232 prior to this season at NMSU.
