Up Next: Colorado and Oklahoma
Oklahoma State will host the Colorado Buffaloes (10-5, 1-3) on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN Regional, part of the Bi g12 Conference's television package. The Cowboys will then travel to Norman, Okla., on Wed., Jan. 30, for an 8 p.m. contest with bedlam-rival Oklahoma (15-2, 4-1). That game will also be on ESPN Regional.
Last Time Out For Nebraska
Nebraska had four players score in double figures, including a game-high 19 by Cary Cochran, but the Texas bench was too much as the Longhorns defeated the Huskers, 77-66, last Saturday in Austin. NU got just eight points off the bench, compared to 34 for UT. The Huskers shot just 39.7 percent from the floor, although they did make 15-of-36 three pointers, good for 42 percent. Texas also outrebounded Nebraska, 42-30. Cochran made 5-of-8 treys, while Brian Conklin was 4-of-10 and John Robinson was 4-of-11.
Last Time vs. Nebraska
Nebraska held off the Cowboys 78-75 in overtime last year in Oklahoma State's first road game since two players were killed in the plane crash. Kimani Ffriend responded to losing his starting job with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Huskers, who gave up two second-half leads and nearly let it get away in overtime. Maurice Baker led the Cowboys with 22 points. Melvin Sanders and Victor Williams each scored 14 and Fredrik J?nz?n finished with 11 points for Oklahoma State, which was outrebounded, 42-31. After getting a round of applause as they hit the floor and a moment of silence before the game, the Cowboys treated it like any other game and put together an 11-0 run at one point. The Cowboys erased two second half leads and hung with the Huskers for most of the overtime. Baker hit a free throw with 18 seconds left in overtime to pull Oklahoma State to 76-75, then the Cowboys were forced to foul Cary Cochran, a 95-percent free throw shooter. Cochran went 1-for-2, but the Cowboys turned the ball over and Cochran got another chance after getting fouled again with 12 seconds left and went 1-for-2 again to finish with 14 points. Belcher picked off an inbounds pass at the buzzer to seal it. The Cowboys forced overtime on Andre Williams' dunk that tied it at 70 with 18 seconds remaining.
Last Time in Stillwater
The Cowboys defeated Nebraska, 94-55, back in February of 2000. The Cowboys shot 56.7 percent from the field, went 11-of-21 from 3-point range and held Nebraska to 34.5 percent shooting. Glendon Alexander added 18 points, all on three-pointers. The Cornhuskers committed 20 turnovers, which OSU turned into 23 points. The Cowboys led by 18 at halftime and then outscored the Huskers 18-1 to start the second half. After Nebraska made the game's first basket, the Cowboys scored 10 straight points during a three-minute span. The Huskers got no closer than five the rest of the way. A 17-4 run that started midway through the first half gave Oklahoma State a 34-16 lead. The Cowboys led by 22 three times in the half. Nebraska's first basket of the second half didn't come until the 11:44 mark, when Cary Cochran sank a three-pointer to make the score 65-33. With the victory, Oklahoma State has won at least 10 conference games for the third-straight season. The last time the Cowboys did that was 1937-40.
Cowboy Noteworthy
* Oklahoma State ranks in the top 10 in all three major ratings percentage indices. The Cowboys are ninth in the Sagarin ratings, and 10th in both the collegerpi.com and College Basketball News rankings.
* Oklahoma State's 13-0 start to the season was the third-best in school history. The 1991-92 Cowboys started the year off 20-0, while the Aggies of 1950-51 began the year with 16 wins before a loss.
Cowboys In The Polls
Oklahoma State is currently ranked 11th in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cowboys dropped five spots after falling to Kansas and Texas Tech last week. OSU's No. 5 ranking earlier this season was the highest ranking OSU has achieved since the Cowboys were ranked second nationally in mid-February of 1992. OSU was ranked No. 2 for two weeks before dropping back to eighth that year. Five of Oklahoma State's opponents this season are ranked in the top 25 of at least one poll (Kansas, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Missouri and Texas), while two more (Texas Tech, Ball State) are receiving votes in at least one of the polls. Here is a look at where OSU has ranked in each poll this season:

Baker Nearing Top 30 All-Time
With 14 points vs. Texas Tech, Maurice Baker has 886 points in his career at OSU. He needs just three points to move past James King and into the top 30 all-time. If he does so, he will be just the third player in the top 30 with just two years in a Cowboy uniform, joining current Director of Basketball Operations Brooks Thompson (996 points in 1993-94) and Ed Odom (945 points in 1979-80).
J?nz?n, Sanders Consistently in the Starting Lineup
Senior Fredrik J?nz?n and junior Melvin Sanders have started 54 and 48 consecutive games, respectively, for OSU ranking eighth and 10th on the Cowboy consecutive starts list. J?nz?n needs three more to move past Brett Robisch (56) for seventh, while Sanders needs three more to surpass Brooks Thompson (50) for ninth on the list.
Gallagher-Iba Arena Named Nation's Best
Gallagher-Iba Arena, the home of Oklahoma State athletics since 1938, has once again been named the No. 1 collegiate basketball facility in the nation by CBSSportsline. It was described as the "ultimate combination of history, uniqueness, location and excitement," by Dan Wetzel of CBSSportsline.
Victor Williams Showing Leadership Qualities
With fellow starting guard Maurice Baker hampered by injury, junior Victor Williams stepped up with 18 points vs. Texas. It was his third-straight game with 17 or more points, and he now has 13 double-figure scoring games this season. Vic is second on the team in scoring with a 12.7 ppg average, and is also second on the team in free-throw percentage (.809) and three-point percentage (.392). He has 68 assists, leading the team, and 39 turnovers, a 1.74 assist-to-turnover ratio.
McFarlin Posting Big Numbers
Oklahoma State sophomore Ivan McFarlin is showing the league what the coaching staff has known all along - he's a prime-time player. In his first season with the Cowboys (he was a partial qualifier last season), he has 11 double-figure scoring games with a season-high of 19 points. He also recorded his first double-double in the second game of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Austin Peay. He had back-to-back double-doubles with 10 and 10 vs. Arkansas and 11 and 11 vs. Ball State. He had four-straight double-figure rebounding games. In the first exhibition game of the season, I-Mac had 20 rebounds, including 10 on each end of the court. He is second on the team in steals with 28 and is also second on the team with his 16 blocked shots. He is third in the Big 12 Conference in field-goal shooting, connecting on 60 percent of his shots.
J?nz?n Moving Up Scoring Chart
With 13 points vs. Ball State, senior center Fredrik J?nz?n became just the 23rd player in school history to record 1,000 points in their career. He now has 1,066 points, ranking 21st on the OSU career scoring list. Fred is now 47 points from surpassing Richard Dumas and moving into the top 20 all-time. Dumas had 1,112 from 1988-90.
J?nz?n Surpasses 600 Career Rebounds
Senior center Fredrik J?nz?n moved into ninth-place on the career rebounding chart with his seven boards vs. Northwestern State. He now has 657 in his four years at OSU. He is just the 10th player in school history to record 600 boards in a career. With his 1,066 points, he is the eighth player in school history to record 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in a career.
OSU Post Players Host Block Party
Through the first 18 games, OSU has blocked 67 shots, and average of 3.7 swats a game. Andre Williams leads the team with 21, followed by Ivan McFarlin with 17 and Antoine Broxsie with 14 blocked shots. Fredrik J?nz?n has eight, while Maurice Baker has four. Melvin Sanders has two and Jack Marlow has one. Williams had four vs. Cincinnati, three vs. Northwestern State and three more vs. Texas, while Broxsie had three vs. TCU, New Orleans and Northwestern State. McFarlin had three vs. North Texas and Ball State.
Andre Williams Fifth on All-Time Blocked Shots Chart
Oklahoma State junior Andre Williams recorded four blocks in the first game of the seeason vs. Cincinnati, and 20 total this year. He became just the fifth player in school history to reach the century mark in blocked shots in his career. The amazing fact is that he accomplished that feat in just two seasons, the second Cowboy ever to do so. Byron Houston had 131 blocks after his sophomore year, and also owns the all-time career blocked-shots record with 223. Andre has had six multiple-block games this season, including three vs. Northwestern State and Texas.
Sutton First Member of 250-250 Club
After some dilligent research by Gary Johnson at the NCAA, it has been determined that Coach Eddie Sutton is the first coach in NCAA history to win 250 games at two different Division I schools. Coach Sutton picked up 260 wins while at Arkansas, and currently has 264 at Oklahoma State. Connecticut's Jim Calhoun had 349 wins entering the season at UConn, and had 248 victories at Northeastern. Lou Henson of New Mexico State had 423 wins at Illinois and has 232 prior to this season at NMSU.
