Oklahoma State Releases 2001-02 Men's Basketball Schedule

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State has released its 2001-02 basketball schedule, it was announced today. The Cowboys will play 30 regular-season games, including 15 home contests. Nine of OSU's scheduled opponents made the NCAA Tournament last season, with two advancing to the Sweet 16.
OSU opens the regular season on ESPN as the Cowboys host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The following afternoon, OSU will host Austin Peay in a seeding game for the Las Vegas Tournament, Nov. 19-21. The Las Vegas tourney will be played at Valley High School, and the other teams have yet to be determined.
Oklahoma State will play five-straight home contests, beginning with North Texas (Nov. 24), and continuing with New Orleans (Nov. 29), Wichita State (Dec. 1), Jackson State (Dec. 8) and Northwestern State (Dec. 17). The Cowboys will play at UMKC in Municipal Auditorium on Dec. 19 and vs. Arkansas at ALLTEL Arena in Little Rock on Dec. 22.
Following the Christmas holiday, OSU will play Ball State in the All-College Classic at the Myriad Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The Cowboys will open the Big 12 Conference portion of their season on Saturday, Jan. 5, as OSU hosts Texas in a game televised by ESPN-plus.
Other games scheduled for ESPN-plus, part of the Big 12 package, are at Iowa State on Jan. 12, Kansas at home on Jan. 15, Colorado at home on Jan. 26, at Oklahoma on Jan. 30, at Kansas State on Feb. 2, Oklahoma in Stillwater on Feb. 13, and Baylor at home on Feb. 23. The Texas A&M game in College Station on Feb. 16 has been picked up by Fox Sports Net.
Three other games will be seen on national television. The game at Texas Tech on Jan. 19 will be televised on CBS, while a non-conference matchup at Fresno State on Feb. 10 will be televised by ABC. ESPN will pick up the Feb. 25 contest at Missouri as part of its Big Monday package.
Oklahoma State has a pair of exhibition games scheduled for Nov. 6 and 10 to unofficially kick off the 2001-02 season.
