Cowboy Tennis Falls to No. 2 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team lost 4-0 to second-ranked and defending NCAA champion Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Sunday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Stanford, California.
Ali Ansari and Scotty Scott put the Cardinal in front by clinching the doubles point with an 8-5 win over OSU's Jiri Jezek and Anthony Zafiris. The two schools split the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches.
SU's 15th-ranked K.J. Hippensteel and Alex Kim defeated Chris Bates and Fran Krepelka 8-5 at the No. 1 slot, while OSU's Matt Prentice and Eru Lyndon stunned No. 14 Scott Lipsky and David Martin 8-5 at the No. 2 position.
Ranked No. 18 in singles, Hippensteel picked up a straight-set win over Bates, 6-2, 6-4, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles by Ansari to push the Cardinal lead to 3-0.
The nation's top-ranked player, Alex Kim, defeated OSU's 84th-ranked Matt Prentice 6-4, 6-2 to move Stanford to 23-1 on the year and drop the Cowboys to 14-9.
When play was stopped, Krepelka was up a set in his match with No. 77 Ryan Haviland, while the Cardinal led in the two remaining matches.
