Cowgirl Golf Finishes Fourth At NCAA Central Regional

West Lafayette, Ind. - Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked Cowgirl golf team finished tied for fourth at the NCAA Central Regional, qualifying it for advancement to the NCAA Championships, May 22-25, at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Sophomore Linda Wessberg led the Cowgirls with a fourth-place individual finish.
Tulsa won the team title with a three-day total of 904, two strokes better than host-school Purdue, which shot a 906. Texas finished third with a 910, while OSU and New Mexico State tied for fourth with a 925. LSU, Kent State and California round out the top-eight teams that will advance to the NCAA Championships.
Purdue's Kari Damron won the individual medal with an even-par score of 216 over Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh, who shot a 218. Kristin Dufour of Texas finished third with a 222, while Kent State's Martina Gillen and Suzie Fisher of Tulsa tied Wessberg for fourth with scores of 224.
OSU senior Maria Bod?n finished 19th with a three-day total of 232. Junior Emma Zackrisson finished 21st with a 234, while sophomore Christi Cano finished in the top 30 with a three-day score of 235. Sophomore Julie Jacques shot a 253 for the tournament.
The fourth-place finish ties for the highest-ever for the Cowgirls in a regional tournament. OSU also finished fourth at the 1994 NCAA West Regional Championships. This will be Oklahoma State's eighth NCAA Appearance since 1986.
