Seven Oklahoma State Tennis Players Highlight Academic All-Big 12

The Big 12 Conference announced the Academic All-Big 12 Team for men's and women's tennis on Tuesday, April 24.
The Cowboys had three players making the first team, while the Cowgirls had four. Junior Dominika Olszewska (physical education), sophomore Jiri Jezek (computer science) and junior Fran Krepelka (computer science) were among the few with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Senior Chris Bates, a marketing major from Brisbane, Australia, earned a 3.22 gpa to qualify for first team, while junior Ashleigh Dolman (family relations) inched her way into the first team by earning a 3.4.
Sophomore Linda Faltynkova, a nutritional science major from Uhersky Brod, Czech Republic, and senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips, a finance major from Moscow, Russia, earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors with their 3.7 and 3.54 gpa, respectively.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 gpa or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her/his team's scheduled contests.
Freshmaen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade point average, while second-team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 gpa.
