Cowgirls Fall To No. 9 Iowa State, 83-54

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's seventh-ranked women's basketball team poured in 12 three pointers en route to an 83-54 win over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls here Wednesday evening in front of 9,407 fans in Hilton Coliseum. Five different Cyclones made a trey in the victory.
OSU freshman Trisha Skibbe scored 11 points for the Cowgirls, the only double-figure scoring in the game for Oklahoma State. ISU, meanwhile, had four starters in double figures, led by Lindsey Wilson's 22. Megan Taylor scored 14, Tracy Gahan 13 and Angie Welle added 12 for Iowa State.
Oklahoma State never led in the game as ISU went on a 7-0 run to start the game. OSU trailed, 39-23, at halftime. Iowa State extended its lead to as many as 32 in the second period before both teams emptied their respective benches.
The Cowgirls shot just 33.9 percent for the game, and 36.4 percent from behind the arc. Iowa State, meanwhile, shot 41.8 percent from the floor and connected on 15-of-19 free throws.
Oklahoma State had 19 turnovers in the game, although 12 of those came in the first period.
The loss broke the Cowgirls' three-game winning streak.
Oklahoma State (12-9 overall, 4-6 Big 12) will host the 10th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
