Tennis honors announced on Monday

Eight players from Oklahoma State's men's and women's tennis team have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team, the conference announced Monday.
Junior Matt Prentice and senior Chris Bates were selected to be on the men's singles team, while Prentice and sophomore Eru Lyndon were selected for the men's doubles team.
Prentice, who is ranked No. 69, recently upset the nation's No. 5-ranked player, Georgia's Bo Hodge, at the Rolex National Indoor Championship last Thursday. The victory advanced him into the round of 16 and improved him to 11-2 on the year.
Bates has earned All-Big 12 honors each year he has played. In `97 he won the No. 4 singles title and was runner-up at No. 2 doubles. In `98 Bates teamed with current Cowboy assistant Brad Chiller to claim the Big 12 No. 2 doubles title and was also the No. 4 singles runner-up. He also earned Academic All-Big 12 honors last season.
Prentice and Lyndon have been selected to the coaches All-Conference team the past two years. The two combined to post a 13-6 ledger last year, while posting a 10-2 mark for this fall.
Junior Dominika Olszewska, ranked No. 49 in the nation, was the lone Cowgirl selected to represent the women's singles team. Olszewska has won three out of her last four matches, including two victories at the ITA Central Region Championships.
The Cowgirls top two doubles teams also made the Preseason All-Big 12 team. The nation's No. 21-ranked tandem of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and junior Ashleigh Dolman along with sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska.
Galoustova-Phillips advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rolex National Indoor Championship by defeating Arizona's Michelle Gough in the consolation round. Galoustova-Phillips qualified for the Rolex National by defeating teammate Faltynkova to become the Central Region runner-up.
Galoustova-Phillips and Dolman have won three of their last four matches including the Central Region Semifinalists. Faltynkova and Kolodynska are coming off a win over Northern Iowa's Kylene Wong and Amie Crowley.
The Cowgirls return to action this weekend when they travel to Arlington, Texas, to take on Tulane and Texas-Arlington.
The Cowboys travel to Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 13 to compete against the nation's elite at the Rolex National Team Indoor Championship. Some of the teams that will be there include top-ranked Stanford, Georgia, Duke, Texas A&M, UCLA and Texas Christian
