Monday's Game
Oklahoma State heads into its final three games of the regular season
starting Monday against Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. The Cowboys, in the
midst of five games in 10 days, are playing the Red Raiders in a contest
that was originally scheduled for Jan. 30, but was postponed due to the
tragic plane crash on Jan. 27.
OSU-Texas Tech:
The Series
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 16-6, including a 65-46 win in
Stillwater on Jan. 13. The Cowboys are 3-2 against Texas Tech in Lubbock and
have won the last seven matchups between the two schools. The last time, OSU
lost to the Red Raiders was a 70-64 overtime decision in Lubbock on Jan. 20,
1997.
OSU Coach Eddie Sutton
Eddie Sutton (Oklahoma State, 1958) is in his 11th year at OSU and his 31st
year overall. Under his guidance, OSU has advanced to the NCAA Tournament
eight times. Sutton currently owns a career record of 676-266 (71.8 percent)
overall and is 246-102 (70.7 percent) at OSU. Sutton is the only coach to
take four different schools to the NCAA Tournament. He is 26-10 all-time vs.
Texas Tech, including a 7-2 mark as coach of the Cowboys.
A quick look at Monday's game
OSU wins low-scoring battle over Kansas State
Fredrik Jonzen's 16-foot jumper with 35.9 seconds left in the game put Okla-
homa State up 48-47 as the Cowboys went on to win 52-47 over Kansas State Sat-
urday afternoon in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU trailed the Wildcats 29-28 at half-
time in a game that featured 12 lead changes and four ties. Oklahoma State was
held to a season low 52 points on 16-for-50 shooting (32 percent), which was also
a season low. Sophomore Andre Williams returned to action after sitting out a
game with a sprained ankle and responded with four points and eight rebounds in
28 minutes of action. Jonzen led the Cowboys with 17 points, eight rebounds and a
career-high four steals. Guards Victor Williams and Maurice Baker also scored in
double figures with 13 and 11 points apiece.
OSU heads down final stretch of the regular season
Starting with the OSU-Texas Tech matchup, the Cowboys will wind down their
regular season with three games in six days. Oklahoma State will play its final
home game of the 2000-01 campaign Wednesday night against Baylor at 6 p.m. It
will be played as part of a doubleheader as the OSU women take on Nebraska at
8:30 p.m. The Cowboys will close out their season on Saturday when they take on
arch-rival Oklahoma in the second game of the Bedlam Series in Norman at 8 p.m.
OSU will have played the 12th, 11th, 10th and ninth place teams in succession fol-
lowing the Baylor game Wednesday night.
