Monday's Game
Oklahoma State hosts its final game of a five-game homestretch Monday night as the Cowboys entertain the Northwestern State Demons. Game time is set for 8 p.m., or 30 minutes following the women's game vs. Northern Arizona, which starts at 6 p.m. OSU is 9-0 and coming off a 90-41 win over Jackson State, while Northwestern State is 2-6 and fresh off a 91-88 loss to Grambling State.
Last Time Out For Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State picked up its biggest win of the season last Saturday night with a 90-41 victory over Jackson State. Fredrik J?nz?n had game highs in both points (21) and rebounds (11) for his third double-double of the season. Ivan McFarlin chipped in 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, while Victor Williams added 14 points and Andre Williams scored 13 off the bench. OSU shot 49.2 percent from the floor and shot 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the line, just the third time this season over 70 percent. Maurice Baker scored just five points but had seven rebounds and five assists in the win. The Cowboys outscored the Tigers, 53-20, in the second period.
Up Next: UMKC
Oklahoma State will play its first true road game of the season on Wednesday, Dec. 19, as the Cowboys travel to Kansas City, Mo., to take on the UMKC Kangaroos. Game time is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised back to Oklahoma on the Cowboy Sports Network. UMKC is 5-1 with a game vs. Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Municipal Auditorium.
OSU-Northwestern State: The Series
Oklahoma State is 2-0 all-time vs. the Northwestern State Demons, including a 73-59 win last year in the Myriad Convention Center in Oklahoma City. OSU's only other game vs. Northwestern State was a 90-65 victory on Nov. 16, 1998, in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Here is a look at the all-time series:

Last Time Out For Northwestern State
Michael Byars-Dawson scored 26 points off the bench for Northwestern State, but it was not enough as the Grambling State Tigers defeated the Demons, 91-88, last Saturday night. Byars-Dawson was 10-of-18 from the floor and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and also had four steals. NSU shot 51 percent as a team, but connected on just 19-of-31 free throws, compared to 25-of-31 from GSU. Center D'or Fischer had seven blocks for the Demons who were outrebounded, 41-28. The score was tied, 47-47, at halftime. Grambling State had two players score 20-plus points with 24 points and 11 rebounds from Paul Haynes and 21 points and nine boards from Jamel Gooding. There were 285 fans at the game, held at the Ruston High School gym.
Cowboys In The Polls
Oklahoma State is currently ranked eighth in the Associated Press poll and ninth in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll . OSU is receiving 1,256 points in the AP poll (76 points behind N0. 7 Virginia) and 529 points in the ESPN poll (42 behind No. 8 Illinois). Four of Oklahoma State's opponents this season are ranked in the top 25 of both polls (Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ball State), and four more are receiving votes in at least one of the polls. Sutton First Member of 250-250 Club
After some dilligent research by Gary Johnson at the NCAA, it has been determined that Coach Eddie Sutton is the first coach in history to win 250 games at two different Division I schools. Coach Sutton picked up 260 wins while at Arkansas, and currently has 258 at Oklahoma State. Connecticut's Jim Calhoun currently has 352 wins at UConn, and had 248 victories at Northeastern. Lou Henson of New Mexico State had 423 wins at Illinois and has 236 through this season at NMSU.
Baker To Be Honored
On Dec. 29, 2001, guard Maurice Baker will be named the first-ever Senior of the Week by ABC Sports. The weekly award will go to a college basketball senior who contributes to society, both on and off the court. Baker has been involved in donating his time for several years. His community service includes feeding the homeless in St. Louis, St. George, Utah, and Stillwater, Okla., as well as participating as a mentor to young children. A donation for $1,000 will be given to a charity to be named later in Baker's name.
OSU Dominates Month of November
Since Eddie Sutton became coach at Oklahoma State in 1990, OSU has produced a 35-4 (.897) record in the month of November. Two of the losses were against top-10 teams, while two of the four also occured in the Great Alaska Shootout in 1994, the season OSU went to the Final Four. With the Cowboys win over Jackson State, they are 65-17 (.793) in the month of December.
Non-Conference Record in Gallagher-Iba Arena
Oklahoma State is 99-1 in non-conference games held in Gallagher-Iba Arena since an 81-75 loss to Missouri Southern on Jan. 7, 1987. The only loss during that span was an 83-81 loss to Florida Atlantic on Dec. 1, 1998, when the Cowboys were ranked 11th in the nation. That loss broke a string of 79-consecutive home non-league wins for OSU. Dating back the last 20 years to 1981, Oklahoma State is 128-7 (.948) in those types of games.
OSU Doesn't Trail Often in the Second Half
Despite trailing at some point in the first half of all eight games this season, Oklahoma State has dominated the second period. Through two hours and 40 minutes of second-half play this season, the Cowboys have trailed for just six minutes. OSU trailed Siena for 96 percent of that time. The only other game that OSU has trailed an opponent in the second half was vs. North Texas, when OSU trailed for the first 17 seconds of the second period.
Gadson Coming On Strong
Junior college transfer Cheyne Gadson was hampered by knee surgery in the preseason, but the point guard is getting stronger every game. His playing time is up to nearly 18 minutes per game, and his stats are impressive. He is averaging 5.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 47.1 percent from the floor, 50 percent from behind the arc and 85.7 percent from the line. He has 26 assists, an average of nearly three per game. He started the New Orleans game at point guard, and will see more action as OSU moves to more three-guard lineups.
OSU in the Big 12 Statistics
Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 Conference in every defensive statistical category. The Cowboys are first in scoring defense (59.0 ppg), field-goal percentage defense (36.5 percent) and three-point field-goal defense (22.8 percent). OSU is also first in scoring margin, outscoring its opponents by an average of 22.4 points per contest. Oklahoma State (42.6 rebounds per game) is second in rebounding offense behind Colorado (46.0 rpg), and third in rebounding margin (+9.4) behind Missouri (12.1) and Colorado (10.0). The Cowboys are third in turnover margin, averaging three fewer turnovers per game than their opponents.
OSU Post Players Host Block Party
Through the first nine games, OSU has blocked 38 shots, and average of 4.2 swats a game. Antoine Broxsie, Andre Williams and Ivan McFarlin lead the team with nine blocked shots. Fredrik J?nz?n has six, while Maurice Baker has three. Melvin Sanders and Jack Marlow have one each. Williams had four vs. Cincinnati, and Broxsie had three vs. TCU and New Orleans. McFarlin had three vs. North Texas.
Coach Sutton Reaches Milestone
Oklahoma State's 69-62 win over Cincinnati gave Coach Eddie Sutton his 250th victory at OSU, and his 680th win overall. With his 258 wins at Oklahoma State, he is now just two wins shy of matching his 260 victories while at Arkansas.
J?nz?n Moving Up Scoring Chart
With 21 points vs. Jackson State last Saturday night, senior center Fredrik J?nz?n moved from 30th to 26th on the career-scoring chart. He now has 959 points in his three-plus year career, just 41 from reaching the 1,000-point plateau. He needs 12 points to move past Larry Hawk and into the top-25 all-time.
J?nz?n Moves Into Top 10 in Rebounds
Senior center Fredrik J?nz?n had 11 rebounds vs. Jackson State last Saturday night, and is just one rebound shy of 600 in his career. His 599 put him just two short of passing Raymond Crenshaw on the career-rebounding list and into ninth place overall. He needs 164 to surpass James King for eighth on the career-rebounding chart.
Andre Williams Fifth All-Time on Blocked Shots Chart
Oklahoma State junior Andre Williams recorded four blocks vs. Cincinnati, and now has nine this season. He became just the fifth player in school history to reach the century mark in blocked shots in his career. The amazing fact is that he accomplished that feat in just two seasons, the second Cowboy ever to do so. Byron Houston had 131 blocks after his sophomore year, and also owns the all-time career blocked-shots record with 223.
McFarlin Posting Big Numbers
Oklahoma State sophomore Ivan McFarlin is showing the league what the coaching staff has known all along - he's a prime-time player. In his first season with the Cowboys (he was a partial qualifier last season), he has six double-figure scoring games with a season-high of 19 points. He also recorded his first double-double in the second game of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Austin Peay. In the first exhibition game of the season, I-Mac had 20 rebounds, including 10 on each end of the court. He also leads the team in steals with 17 and is tied for the team lead with nine blocked shots.
