OSU Men's Netters Advance in Wichita

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team advanced two players to the third round at the ITA Omini Hotels Region V Tennis Championship on Friday in Wichita, Kan.
Senior Matt Prentice, ranked No. 59, advanced to the third round after defeating Tulsa's Dustin Taylor 6-2, 6-4 in the second round. Prentice, the No.2 seed in the tournament, beat Drake's Aaron Endress 6-4 , 6-0 in the first round. Prentice will play Colorado's Justin Hunter on Saturday.
Senior Fran Krepelka, ranked No. 90, made it through the first two rounds by beating Jared Welch of Oral Roberts 6-2, 6-2 and Illinois State's Marek Blaskovic 6-2, 6-4. Krepelka will play Nebraska's Jacek Wolicki on Saturday.
Junior Jiri Jezek won his first match of the day by beating Wichita State's Carlo Contente 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. Jezek lost his second round match to Lance Mills of Nebraska 5-7, 6-3, 5-7.
Freshman Mike McArty lost his first round match by falling to Illinois State's Ricky Heath 1-6, 1-6 in the first round. McArty dropped to the Back Draw Bracket where he defeated Eddie Paez of Oral Roberts 8-5. McArty will next face Oklahoma's Sebastian Revol in the next round on Saturday.
Justin Ewert, a sophomore, lost his first match on Friday to David O'Connell of Indiana State 3-6, 1-6. Ewert fell to Illinois State's Jason Smit 3-8 in the first round of the Back Draw Bracket.
Freshman Brad Fakkar was eliminated from the tournament on Thursday in the qualifying round. Fakkar lost to Oklahoma's Brad Prigmore by default.
Prentice and Krepelka teamed up to beat Hixon and Munson of Oral Roberts 8-1 in the first round of the doubles bracket. The duo will play in the second round on Saturday.
Jezek and McArty came up short agains Tulsa's Ryan Livesay and Dustin Taylor 9-8 in doubles play.
Singles and doubles play will continue on Saturday in Wichita.
