COWGIRLS HOST TEXAS A&M
Oklahoma State (9-8 overall, 1-5 Big 12) will host the Texas A&M Aggies (12-5, 2-4) on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net. Bill Land will provide the play-by-play while Elissa Walker-Campbell will offer color analysis. OSU is coming off an 82-29 loss at No. 9 Texas Tech last Sunday, while A&M is fresh off an 87-81 win over Baylor on Saturday in College Station. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series with the Aggies, 13-4. Oklahoma State owns a 7-2 record vs. Texas A&M in Stillwater.
COMING UP
Oklahoma State will host the Baylor Bears (13-3 overall, 2-3 Big 12) on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Following that game, the Cowgirls will play a pair of games on the road. First, OSU will travel to Manhattan, Kan., on Saturday, Feb. 3, to take on the Kansas State Wildcats (11-6, 1-5) at 3 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Cowgirls will travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones (15-1, 5-0) at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 9 Texas Tech held Oklahoma State to eight points in the first half Sunday en route to an 82-29 rout that extended the Lady Raiders' home winning streak to 39, the nation's longest. Texas Tech led 45-8 at halftime, the lowest point total ever for a Lady Raiders' opponent at the half. Jia Perkins scored 19 points for Texas Tech. Katrisa O'Neal had 10 points at the half, more than the entire Oklahoma State team. The Cowgirls were led by Jessica Spinner's nine points. Texas Tech led 12-0 after 5-1/2 minutes. Shelby Hutchens finally broke the scoreless streak at 14:29. After a 3-pointer by Oklahoma State's Kara Faulk at 13:27, Tech went on a 27-1 run to close the half. It took until 16:28 of the second half for Oklahoma State to hit double digits. It was Oklahoma State's first basket since a free throw with 8:49 left in the half. With just more than eight minutes left, Tech padded its lead to 47 points. The Lady Raiders' freshmen then took the court. Texas Tech outrebounded Oklahoma State, 51-31, and scored 28 points off turnovers compared with four for Oklahoma State.

Texas A&M is 12-5 this season and 2-4 in Big 12 Conference action. The Aggies are 8-1 at home and 2-4 on the road. A&M is led by senior Jaynetta Saunders, who is averaging 22.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. She also has 26 blocked shots. In conference games only, Saunders is chipping in 27.8 points per contest. both her overall and conference scoring rank second behind Baylor?s Sheila Lambert. Also scoring in double figures for the Aggies are Brandy Jones (12.2 ppg) and LaToya Rose (10.4 ppg). Jones has led the team in scoring in four games. Freshman Toccara Williams is averaging 7.2 assists per game, the second-best in the Big 12. The Aggies are coached by Peggie Gillom, in her third season with A&M. She has a 30-41 record in her tenure with Texas A&M.

#2 Terrisha Osborn
Terrisha has started five games this season, and played in 16 contests. She is averaging 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12 minutes per game. She has 22 assists and just 10 turnovers, a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
#4 Jessica Spinner
Jessica is averaging 8.5 points per game. She is second on the team with 45 assists and 20 steals. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic after a career-high 17 points vs. Tulsa.
#12 Jessica Bates
Jessica is averaging 7.8 points and five rebounds per game. She is shooting 48.4 percent from the floor, and has started 11-of-17 games for OSU. She leads the team in blocked shots with seven.
#20 Shelby Hutchens
Shelby is averaging 7.2 points per game. She leads the team with 46 assists and 23 steals. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Islander Classic. Shelby had a career-high nine assists vs. Eastern Michigan in the Bahamas.
#22 Kara Faulk
Kara is averaging 9.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is 46-of-56 from the line (82.1 percent). She is also shooting 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from behind the arc. She was named the MVP of the Nassau Sunsplash Shootout after she scored a career-high 24 points vs. Alabama.
#24 Machell Roberts
Machell is averaging 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. She scored a career-high 14 points vs. Wichita State and had a team-high 12 vs. Southwest Missouri State. She is fourth on the team with 32 assists.
#32 Chantoya Hawkins
Chantoya is averaging 6.8 points per game. She is also averaging 3.3 rebounds per contest. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Islander Classic. Chantoya is third on the team with 42 assists and second with 20 steals.
#54 Nikki Lawrence
Nikki is averaging 3.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game off the bench. ?She had a career-high five assists vs. West Virginia. She leads all post players with 15 assists.
#55 Trisha Skibbe
Trisha started her sixth game in a Cowgirl uniform, and is averaging 7.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She pulled down a team season-high 16 rebounds vs. Kansas last week. Trisha was named to the all-tournament team in the Bahamas.
COWGIRL ATTENDANCE RANKS 39th NATIONALLY
Oklahoma State has had 7,919 fans come through the turnstiles in the first four games in Gallagher-Iba Arena, an average of 1,980 fans per game. That average ranks OSU 39th nationally in unofficial attendance this season. Texas Tech is the Big 12 leader and ranks third nationally with 12,335 fans per contest. Iowa State is second in the league and fourth nationally at 11,122.
COWGIRLS IN THE RPI
Oklahoma State is ranked 58th in the Ratings Percentage Index following Wednesday night?s games, published by College Basketball News on Jan. 24. The Cowgirls? schedule-strength rank (26th) is the fourth-toughest in the league behind Nebraska (sixth), Oklahoma (14th) and Iowa State (21st).
COACH DICK HALTERMAN
Dick Halterman is entering his 18th season as the head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 310-211 career mark at OSU. Halterman has guided the Cowgirls to eight postseason appearances in the last 12 years, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances (last in 1996) and one Women's NIT appearance (1998). Under Halterman, 13 Cowgirls have been named first-team all-conference, while 31 student-athletes have achieved first-team academic all-conference status. He is a two-time conference Coach of the Year, and was the District V Coach of the Year in 1991. Halterman has taken two conference All-Star teams abroad, including August of 1999, when he led the Big 12 All-Stars on a tour of Finland and Sweden. That team finished with a 5-1 record. COWGIRL BASKETBALL ON THE AIR
Once again during the 2000-01 season, Oklahoma State's basketball games will be broadcast live on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater. Kevin Gum, in his 11th season with the Cowgirl broadcast, will handle play-by-play duties, while Casey Kendrick, in his sixth season on the air, will provide color analysis. For the first time, Cowgirl Basketball will be part of the OSU Radio Network. Member stations will provide statewide broadcasts of as many as 10 games throughout the season. Fans unable to pick up the over-the-air broadcast will be able to listen to the games via the internet at www.okstate.com. Broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to tipoff with pregame analysis, as well as interviews with Coach Halterman and various Cowgirl players.
CAPTAINS
Juniors Kara Faulk and Nikki Lawrence were voted on as the captains for the 2000-01 season. Faulk, from Sapulpa, Okla., is in her third year with the program, while Lawrence, a native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is in her first season at Oklahoma State.
