Cowgirl Basketball Defeats Kansas, 61-53

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Trisha Skibbe pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds as the Cowgirls defeated the Kansas Jayhawks, 61-53, here Wednesday night in Big 12 Conference women's basketball action. It was OSU's first conference win of the season.
Kara Faulk led the Cowgirls with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting despite pulling down just one rebound. Jessica Spinner joined Faulk in the double-figure scoring category with 11, including a pefect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Oklahoma State led by five points just 1-1/2 minutes into the contest. Kansas took a 10-9 lead at the 15:54 mark, but after the first media timeout, Faulk hit a jumper to put the Cowgirls ahead for good.
KU's Jennifer Jackson led all scorers with 21 points, while Brooke Reves picked up a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jaclyn Johnson, the Jayhawks leading scorer, scored just one point in 18 minutes of play before coming out of the game with an injury.
OSU shot just 32.8 percent from the floor, but made 14-of-18 free throws, compared to just 8-of-14 by Kansas. The Cowgirls also outrebounded Kansas, 43-30. KU shot 45.7 percent for the game, but had 26 turnovers.
Oklahoma State (9-7 overall, 1-4 Big 12) will travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face the Texas Tech Lady Raiders on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena.
