Oklahoma State (8-7 overall, 0-4 Big 12) will host the Kansas Jayhawks (7-7, 1-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls are coming off a 64-43 loss to the Texas Longhorns in Austin last Saturday, while the Jayhawks are coming off a 78-67 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats at home Saturday afternoon. Kansas leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 24-15, including a 75-58 win over OSU last year in Lawrence.

COMING UP
Oklahoma State will travel to Lubbock, Texas, for a game with the Texas Tech Lady Raiders (13-2, 4-0) on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena. OSU lost to Tech, 67-55, just two weeks ago in Stillwater. OSU will then return home for a pair of games in Gallagher-Iba Arena. On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Cowgirls will host Texas A&M (11-4, 1-3) in a game televised by Fox Sports Net. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, OSU will host the Baylor Bears (13-2, 2-2) at 7 p.m. BU defeated Oklahoma State, 81-69, earlier this month in Waco.
LAST TIME OUT
Texas outrebounded Oklahoma State, 51-27, as the No. 14 Lady 'Horns defeated the Cowgirls, 64-43, here Saturday afternoon in Big 12 Women's Basketball action. It was OSU's fourth-consecutive loss, and fourth league loss. Despite trailing by as many as 14 at 18-4 early in the first half, the Cowgirls slowly came back and trailed, 27-25, at halftime. The comeback included a five-minute scoring drought by UT as the Cowgirls went on an 11-0 run midway through the period. Not one OSU player scored in double figures in the game, as Jessica Spinner led the Cowgirls with eight points. Oklahoma State had good bench production as 20 of the 43 points came from subs. Texas had four starters score in double figures, and two of those, Stacy Stephens and Tracy Cook, had double-doubles with 10 and 12 rebounds, repsectively. It was the second-straight game that OSU has failed to score 20 points in the second half. The 18 points vs. Texas in the period were the lowest of the season, beating out last game's 19 points vs. Colorado in the second stanza.

Kansas is 7-7 overall this season and 1-2 in Big 12 Conference play. The Jayhawks are struggling, compared to KU standards, but defeated a Kansas State team that currently has a 10-5 record. Kansas is led by Jaclyn Johnson who is averaging nearly 17 points and just over eight rebounds per game. She is complemented by Brooke Reves, who is averaging 15 points and seven boards per contest. KU is 1-4 on the road this season with losses at Iowa State, Arizona, UC-Santa Barbara and Alabama-Birmingham. KU is shooting 47.6 percent from the floor and averaging 74.8 points per game. Kansas has nearly a 10 point scoring margin, despite a .500 record. The Jayhawks are coached by Marian Washington, in her 28th season at Kansas and overall. She has an all-time record of 530-295.
OSU-KU SERIES
Kansas leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 24-15, and also leads the series in Stillwater, 10-6. The series was much closer back in 1995 when KU led by a narrow 16-15 margin. However, the Jayhawks have since won the last eight meetings, including the last four in Stillwater. The last two contests between these two schools in Gallagher-Iba Arena have gone into overtime.
PLAYER NOTES
#2 Terrisha Osborn -- Terrisha has started five games this season, and played in 14-of-15 contests. She is averaging 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game. She has 21 assists and just 10 turnovers, a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
#4 Jessica Spinner -- Jessica is averaging 8.3 points per game. She is tied for the team lead with 40 assists and is second with 19 steals. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic after a career-high 17 points vs. Tulsa.
#12 Jessica Bates -- Jessica is averaging 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting 48.6 percent from the floor, and has started 11-of-15 games for OSU. She leads the team in blocked shots with seven.
#20 Shelby Hutchens -- Shelby is averaging 7.5 points per game. She is tied for the team lead with 40 assists and leads with team with 21 steals. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Islander Classic. Shelby had a career-high nine assists vs. Eastern Michigan in the Bahamas.
#22 Kara Faulk -- Kara is averaging 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. She is 40-of-49 from the line (81.6 percent). She is also shooting 47.1 percent from behind the arc. She was named the MVP of the Nassau Sunsplash Shootout after she scored a career-high 24 points vs. Alabama.
#24 Machell Roberts -- Machell is averaging seven points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. She scored a career-high 14 points vs. Wichita State and had a team-high 12 vs. Southwest Missouri State. She is fourth on the team with 29 assists.
#32 Chantoya Hawkins -- Chantoya is averaging 7.7 points per game. She is also averaging 3.3 rebounds per contest. She was named to the all-tournament team of the Islander Classic. Chantoya is third on the team with 37 assists and 18 steals.
#54 Nikki Lawrence -- Nikki is averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game off the bench. She had a career-high five assists vs. West Virginia. She is the only non-guard with double-figure assists (12).
#55 Trisha Skibbe -- Trisha started her fourth game in a Cowgirl uniform, and is averaging 7.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She is shooting 45.7 percent from the floor, and was named to the all-tournament team in the Bahamas.
COWGIRL ATTENDANCE RANKS 35th NATIONALLY
Oklahoma State has had 6,427 fans come through the turnstiles in the first three games in Gallagher-Iba Arena, an average of 2,142 fans per game. That average ranks OSU 35th nationally in unofficial attendance this season. Texas Tech is the Big 12 leader and ranks third nationally with 12,239 fans per contest. Iowa State is second in the league and fourth nationally at 11,256. The Cowgirls are eighth in the conference behind Texas (third at 5,583), Nebraska (fourth at 3,313), Baylor (fifth at 2,827) Colorado (sixth at 2,679) and Oklahoma (seventh at 2,300). Kansas (2,125) and Kansas State (2,123) are both averaging 2,000-plus fans per game.
COWGIRLS IN THE RPI
Oklahoma State is ranked 59th in the latest RPI, published by College Basketball News on Jan. 15. The Cowgirls? schedule-strength rank (28th) is the fifth-toughest in the league behind Nebraska (11th), Oklahoma (12th), Texas Tech (16th) and Texas (25th), and just ahead of Iowa State (29th).
COACH DICK HALTERMAN
Dick Halterman is entering his 18th season as the head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 309-210 career mark at OSU. Halterman has guided the Cowgirls to eight postseason appearances in the last 12 years, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances (last in 1996) and one Women's NIT appearance (1998). Under Halterman, 13 Cowgirls have been named first-team all-conference, while 31 student-athletes have achieved first-team academic all-conference status. He is a two-time conference Coach of the Year, and was the District V Coach of the Year in 1991. Halterman has taken two conference All-Star teams abroad, including August of 1999, when he led the Big 12 All-Stars on a tour of Finland and Sweden. That team finished with a 5-1 record. COWGIRL BASKETBALL ON THE AIR
Once again during the 2000-01 season, Oklahoma State's basketball games will be broadcast live on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater. Kevin Gum, in his 11th season with the Cowgirl broadcast, will handle play-by-play duties, while Casey Kendrick, in his sixth season on the air, will provide color analysis. For the first time, Cowgirl Basketball will be part of the OSU Radio Network. Member stations will provide statewide broadcasts of as many as 10 games throughout the season. Fans unable to pick up the over-the-air broadcast will be able to listen to the games via the internet at www.okstate.com. Broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to tipoff with pregame analysis, as well as interviews with Coach Halterman and various Cowgirl players.
HALTERMAN ON RADIO/TV
During the 2000-01 season, fans can catch up with the Cowgirl head coach on both the radio and television. The Coach Halterman Radio Show will be broadcast on KSPI-93.7 FM in Stillwater on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. The Coach Halterman Television Show will be broadcast Fridays and Saturdays in Stillwater, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Woodward, as well as on College Sports Southeast regionally. A schedule of airtimes follows. Casey Kendrick, program manager at KWEM, will host both the radio and television shows.

CAPTAINS
Juniors Kara Faulk and Nikki Lawrence were voted on as the captains for the 2000-01 season. Faulk, from Sapulpa, Okla., is in her third year with the program, while Lawrence, a native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is in her first season at Oklahoma State.
