OSU's Maurice Baker Earns Weekly Big 12 Honor

DALLAS - Missouri junior Clarence Gilbert turned in a Big 12 record scoring game in the MU 112-109 quadruple overtime win against Iowa State. Gilbert tied the league record with 43 points and has been name the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week. Oklahoma State junior Maurice Baker showed his leadership in two Cowboys' victories. The guard averaged 18 points, which included a career-high-tying 26 against Iowa State. Baker has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Both honors are selected by a media panel.
Baker earns Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after averaging 18 points in two games. The Madison, Ill., guard opened the week with his second straight 26-point effort in the 88-80 overtime win against Iowa State. Fighting cramps toward the end of the contest, Baker also pulled down 10 rebounds and was 12-for-14 from the free throw line against the Cyclones. In OSU's 65-46 win versus Texas Tech, Baker scored 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He also had 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Baker's three double-doubles this season have come in the last four games. He also posted five assists in both games for OSU. Baker is the first two-time winner of the rookie honor this season and the first since Bernard King of Texas A&M last season.
