STILLWATER, Okla. -- Six early-season games around the state of Oklahoma and 11 games against 2000 postseason teams highlight the Oklahoma State men's basketball schedule released today.
Coming off a Final Eight appearance, OSU plays its first game in vastly expanded Gallagher-Iba Arena on Dec. 19 against Arkansas-Little Rock.
Before the Dec. 19 home opener, OSU plays a half-dozen neutral-site games within its home state. In addition to the exhibition opener in Enid on Nov. 9, OSU plays two games in Oklahoma City and three in Tulsa.
The top game in each of the state's top two cities involves an NCAA Tournament opponent. On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Cowboys face UNLV for the fourth time in five years when the teams match up in Oklahoma City. In Tulsa the following Saturday, OSU plays regional rival Arkansas for the first time in 28 years.
The Jan. 8 conference home opener against defending Big 12 champion Iowa State will serve as the dedication of the Cowboys' new 13,611-seat arena and as the first Big Monday game of the 2000-01 season.
The game against the Cyclones is one of 10 regular-season OSU games that will air on the small screen. ABC will telecast the Feb. 17 game against Texas, and the Bedlam Series returns to ESPN on March 3 when OSU visits Oklahoma. In addition, seven regular-season games and the first three rounds of the Phillips 66/Big 12 Championship will see the airwaves via the ESPN Plus regional network.
