DALLAS -- Having arrived safely in Vienna, the Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Star team completed its final preparations for its first game on Thursday, August 10.
Practicing in a local high school gym, Coach Ricardo Patton of Colorado put the players through their paces, and the team played an intra-squad scrimmage.
"I think the guys are ready to get out on the floor," Patton said. "I know I'm interested to see how we'll fare against these Austrian teams."
The team will tip off its six-game slate against the Basket Club of Vienna on Thursday at 7 p.m. local time. B.C. of Vienna is the reigning Austrian National Champion and should provide rather stiff competition for the All-Stars.
"I know they'll give us a good game," said Oklahoma State's Andre Williams. "But I think we're ready, too. I'm just excited to be able to get out there and play."
Texas Tech's Cliff Owens echoed Williams' remarks. "We're just ready to play. It's been a great experience playing with the other guys, and I'm ready to see how we do out there."
