STILLWATER, Okla. -- The 51st-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team suffered its first home loss of the season on Saturday, a 5-2 setback at the hands of conference foe Baylor.
The Cowboys, 11-7 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 play, were 4-0 at the DuBois Tennis Center entering Saturday's showdown with the fourth-ranked Bears. With the win, Baylor rose to 19-4 and 8-0 and captured its first Big 12 title.
Freshman Eru Lyndon and Jiri Jezek led the charge for the Cowboys, picking up wins at the Nos. 3 and 5 positions. It marked the second time this week the tandem was responsible for the Pokes' scoring against a top-10 team. The duo also posted wins against No. 7 Texas A&M on Wednesday.
However, Lyndon and Jezek won their matches in contrasting styles. Lyndon zipped to an easy straight-set victory over BU's Pawel Gajdzik, 6-0, 6-1. The win moved the New Zealand native to 9-8 on the year.
Jezek battled back after losing the first set 6-0 to even the score with a 7-6 decision in the second. He then took control in the third set, cruising to a 6-1 win to improve his record to 13-5 on the year.
The Cowboys will be back in action next week when they travel to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament.
